Tumeke Cycle Space

Tumeke Cycle Space A volunteer-run DIY bicycle workshop. We help you fix your bike! We have skills & tools to share, and bikes for sale. See our About page for more info.

New volunteers welcome. We rely on donations: 38-9008-0749578-00 - thank you for your koha! We help you fix your bicycle! Tumeke Cycle Space is a non-profit, volunteer-run, DIY bicycle workshop, with a focus on teaching people how to fix their own bikes. It’s a place where people can repair, build, and learn about bikes in a safe and inclusive environment. We'll help you to do the repair yourself,

learning more about how your bike works and giving you the skills and confidence to fix things on your own. We provide tools (including the weird bicycle-specific ones), knowledge, and training. If you’re confident around bikes and just want to use our tools, that’s fine too. We’re also happy to help with maintenance – checking chains, brakes, tyres and gears, cleaning, applying lubricant and so on. This can help prevent problems getting worse later. We also have a wide range of bikes for sale. In this way we aim to empower people, encourage skill sharing, and promote cycling, an affordable, social form of transport that encourages a healthy lifestyle and environment. Open Sundays 12.00 pm - 4.00 pm. Closed on long weekends and during the summer holiday period. We’ve been around since 2010, and at our current location in Sandringham since 2020. Before that, we were based on Karangahape Road. We are supported by the Albert-Eden Local Board and koha from the public. If you would like to make a donation, our bank account is Kiwibank 38-9008-0749578-00, name Tumeke Cycle Space.

From our friends at Bike Auckland:

Kia ora Bike Burb friends 👋

First of all, thanks for your amazing mahi in helping people in your area take up biking as the fuel crisis bites.

Along with Cycling Action Network, we're calling on government to act rapidly to mitigate the effects of the fuel crisis in the short, medium, and long term. We want to accelerate shovel-ready bike infrastructure projects and implement pop-up bike lanes so that people have the choice to bike safely during this crisis.

When we get a decent number of signatures, CAN will hand-deliver the letter to Parliament.

We need your help!

Please sign the Open Letter. Sign it as your Bike Burb, and sign it as yourself as an individual.
Please share Fuel the Future with your network. You can on-share our social posts linked below, or make your own with the messages on our webpage and the graphics in this folder. There are just a few graphics so far; you're welcome to suggest others we should create. Feel free to add your own local story to why it matters - make it your own :)
