Migrant Action Trust endorses and joins the ALL WORKERS UNITED: March Against Racism and Xenophobia
Aotearoa New Zealand should be a great place to live. We are a proudly diverse nation that over a million migrants call home, and we thrive when we work together.
But in recent years, racism and xenophobia have exploded. Migrants and migrant workers are increasingly being targeted, scapegoated, and made to feel like we don't belong. Te Tiriti o Waitangi, our founding document, is being diminished, and with it the promise of a nation where all of us are treated with dignity and respect.
As the Migrant Action Trust, we stand with all workers of Aotearoa. We are under attack. Our communities experience the results every day in our workplaces: in our stores, on our public transport system, in our schools, and in our homes.
Migrant workers face exploitation at alarming rates — unpaid wage, unsafe working conditions, precarious visas, and the constant fear of speaking up. Too many are trapped in jobs where they are underpaid, overworked, and silenced. This is not the Aotearoa we deserve.
We know that when migrants and all workers stand together, we are stronger. An injury to one is an injury to all. We are proud to endorse and join this march because justice for migrant workers is justice for every worker.
We invite our allies and community members to join us. We call on community organisations who are working with diverse migrant communities to stand in solidarity with the community, and walk alongside them in advocating for their rights and welfare. Your presence, your voice, and your support matter. Together, we can build a nation where every worker — regardless of where they were born — is treated with fairness, dignity, and respect.
