A New Chapter for Manurewa Veterans’ Support Centre
Despite the weather, our members turned out for our 2026 AGM on Saturday 26 September, ensuring we achieved our quorum and could get down to business.
We’re pleased to introduce our 2026/27 team:
Elected President: Tania Good
Elected Executive: Cliff McMahon, Marty Donoghue & Wayne Taylor
Co-opted Member: Chris Barry
Volunteer Support Advisor: Beverley Perry
This AGM also marked the end of an era. After 15 years as President, Cliff chose not to seek re-election as President, but will continue serving on the Executive. In recognition of his contribution, RNZRSA National President Tony Hill sent a personal message of thanks, delivered on his behalf by Marty Donoghue, acknowledging Cliff’s many years of leadership and service.
We also farewelled long-serving Trustees William (Bill) Marshall and Michael Bailey, who have decided the time is right to hand over the mantle.
Our sincere thanks to Cliff, Bill and Michael for the years they have given to our organisation and veteran community.
A strong foundation, a changing of the guard, and a new chapter ahead.

September Morning Tea – Men’s Health Matters
A big thank you to everyone who joined us for our September Monthly Shared Morning Tea with guest speaker Grant Boylan from the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
Grant was entertaining, informative and engaging, sharing his own personal journey with prostate cancer and sparking a fantastic Q&A session with our members.
Thanks Grant for giving us your time and sharing your experience so openly. Get checked. Have the conversation. Encourage the men in your life to do the same.

We'll be in Auckland on Friday 16 October to meet with veterans and their whanāu from across Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.

The main Veterans’ forum will take place on Friday 16 October at the Due Drop Event Centre. This is an opportunity to meet our team, ask questions, and make sure that you understand the support and entitlements available to you. You can also meet with other veteran support and community organisations

If you’re unable to make it on Friday, but would like to meet with Veterans’ Affairs staff we can catch-up the night before, Thursday 15 October between 7:00pm 9:00pm, at the same venue.

Support in Auckland - The RSA is holding veteran support clinics at the Hibiscus Coast Community RSA over the next week.

If you're in the area, come along and chat to one of our team and see what support you might be entitled to. You don't need to be a member to access support from the RSA - we're here to help all who have served.

It was a small intimate turnout for our August monthly morning tea. I'd like to thank Wayne Taylor one of our Executive Committee members for hosting, and Vic for blessing the occasion.
This month our guest speaker is from the Prostate Cancer Foundation

The Royal New Zealand RSA is calling on the Government to provide greater, sustained funding for New Zealand Defence Force remuneration, saying investment in people must keep pace with New Zealand’s defence ambitions.

Really appreciate you popping in to uplift and deliver the knitted gifts to Papakura, Devonport, and Whenuapai for distribution to our current serving personnel.
Please let the team know there is always a cuppa available, and we’d also like to extend an open invite to our monthly morning tea - last Thursday of the month.

A big “Thank You” to the team from Tauranga and Operation Wrapped in Remembrance for the woollen gifts.
They have been broken down into four groups and arranged to be distributed to Papakura Military Camp, Base Whenuapai, and Devonport Naval Base by the RNZRSA Hub Manager and NZDF.
A few items have been kept to be distributed to our own Returned and Service members

Thanks to all our members that were able to join us today for our Matariki themed brunch. A special mention to Don for blessing our gathering.
The weather was spectacular, the company - outstanding, and the shared kai was absolutely delicious, connection and laughter was truly infectious... I can't wait for our Xmas get together - see you all next month
