We at Home Birth Aotearoa are in full support of Ngā Māia and Indigenous midwives globally in calling for Indigenous voices, leadership, and ways of knowing to be respected and protected.

Indigenous midwifery knowledge, practices, and traditions have supported wāhine, pēpi, whānau and communities for generations and are essential to the future of midwifery and maternity care.

IMPORTANT: Our birth pool coordinator and trustee, Rose, is very unwell at the moment on top of having unwell family members. Communication will be delayed.
We also urgently need birth pool coordinators to take over birth pool hire as Rose is too unwell to continue it. Ideally we need three coordinators for West/Central, South and North Shore. At minimum we need one coordinator located West or Central. This is primarily a volunteer position but a small remuneration is provided for each completed pool hire.

Auckland Home Birth Association also welcomes the High Court decision! While this won't make things instantly better, hopefully it's a step in the right direction for finally getting pay equity for midwives. Thank you to all those who have put in the mahi to get this result.

"Hi everyone!

My Master's research aims to understand pregnant women’s experiences in seeking and evaluating nutrition information regarding pregnancy that they encounter online. Its findings will support the improvement of nutrition-in-pregnancy communications.

Your participation would be greatly appreciated! Please email [email protected] for more information, if you may know anyone keen, or to express your interest 🌸✨"
