We've just launched a new weekly series on how we can best support the rangatahi in our lives through various challenges, with tips directly from our therapists. 🌱

Today's post focuses on an often-scary topic for caregivers - self-harm. Remember that silence is riskier than communicating with the young person if they are self-injuring. Connection, patience and care is what's called for. 💙

📌 If today's post resonates, save or share with someone supporting a young person.
👀 Keep an eye out each Tuesday for more advice from our kaimahi.

Tāmaki-born-and-bred Joy has recently joined our Functional Family Therapy-Cross Generations (FFT-CG or Pae Whakatupuranga) team. 🙌🏽

In her role, Joy delivers intensive, whānau‑focused therapy that supports rangatahi involved in the justice system to reduce offending, strengthen relationships, and break intergenerational cycles.

It's a joy to have you with us doing this important mahi, Joy 😁 💚

Supporting young people isn't always straightforward - and there's no one-size-fits-all approach. 💚

At Kia Puāwai, our therapists work alongside rangatahi and whānau every day, so we see what helps, what gets in the way, and what makes the biggest difference over time.

With that in mind, we're sharing a weekly series of practical tips for parents and caregivers, grounded in real mahi with young people. ✅

📱 Today's first post looks at safe social media use.
📌 If it resonates, save or share with someone supporting a young person.
👀 Keep an eye out each Tuesday for more tips and tricks directly from our kaimahi!

We are so lucky to work with talented homegrown photographer Zico for our ātaahua brand photos. 📸 Here are a couple from our latest photo shoot in Kirikiriroa. 👀 Ngā mihi to our amazing kaimahi who ventured out on the rather cold and blustery day to capture some magic. 🌦️

A few weeks ago we welcomed a new group of kaimahi into Kia Puāwai through our quarterly induction noho marae at the always-welcoming Te Tahawai Marae. 🙏🏽

This important noho creates space for our new kaimahi to connect and build relationships, and to begin understanding the tikanga and values that guide our mahi.

It’s also an opportunity to engage with mātauranga Māori in a meaningful and grounded way, helping our kaimahi feel confident as they step into their roles.

Nau mai, haere mai to our new starters - we’re so glad to have you with us! 💙
