A special mihi to Te Uri o Hikihiki and Ngātiwai Trust Board for hosting our final Whaitake Whakaoranga Whānau noho wānanga of 2026 at Mokau Marae, Whangaruru.

Since December 2025, around 115 kaimahi have participated in seven noho wānanga, deepening their understanding of Whaitake Whakaoranga Whānau and continuing their learning through He Whakatupuranga Communities of Learning.

We love learning in sacred spaces as it nurtures connection through whakapapa and tikanga.

We also extend our thanks to our mana whenua hosts across Waikato Tainui, Te Moana-a-Toi and Tāmaki Makaurau who have contributed to this journey throughout the year.

Ngā mihi to everyone who has embraced this kaupapa. Together, we continue to grow our knowledge and strengthen our practice to better support the aspirations and wellbeing of mokopuna and whānau. 🌿

This coming World Homelessness Day on Saturday 10 October, Kia Puāwai is proud to join the Manaaki Rangatahi Youth Homelessness Collective at the Catherine Plaza Walkway in Henderson to raise awareness of the importance of stable and supportive homes for rangatahi. 💚

Our team will be available to chat about fostering and how caregivers help tamariki and rangatahi feel safe and connected to the people and places that matter most.

If you're in the area, come and connect with organisations working to support rangatahi and strengthen outcomes for young people in our communities. 🙌🏼

Join Kia Puāwai as a social worker | Ahi Kā specialist and support rangatahi in care while working alongside caregivers through our Ahi Kā programme.

This full-time role is based in Northland and involves working with rangatahi and caregivers across the region, supporting them in their communities.
