Family Life International NZ

Family Life International NZ Defending Life, Faith and Family Prayer:
Commitment to personal prayer and the advancement of communal prayer.

Education:
Building respect for the sanctity of life, faith and family in the context of Catholic morality by educating on all life issues from natural conception to natural death, and by maintaining a presence in the media by providing public comment on issues relating to life, faith and family. Action:
Serving pregnant women in crisis, and those affected by abortion. Family Life International is

a Catholic organisation dedicated to educating, advocating and carrying out practical work in support of life, faith and family. We do this by providing education and formation events and resources; by advocating for life, faith and family issues in the New Zealand media; and by running crisis-pregnancy centres, offering post-abortion counselling and training couples in Natural Fertility Regulation.

An evening you won't want to miss.

Imagine being arrested simply for standing silently and praying in your head.

For Isabel Vaughan-Spruce, that isn't hypothetical.

Her arrest for silently praying within an abortion facility exclusion zone made headlines around the world. She was acquitted, arrested again, and eventually received compensation from police for her unjust treatment.

And now she's facing trial again.

Soon after leaving New Zealand, Isabel is due back in a UK courtroom to defend something most of us would once have taken for granted: the freedom to pray silently in our own minds.

On Saturday 26 September, Isabel will be our special guest speaker at the Hope for the World Conference Dinner.

This will be a wonderful evening of good food and a very special opportunity to hear Isabel's remarkable story firsthand: her years of peaceful pro-life witness, the women and babies she has helped, what happened when that witness brought her face-to-face with the law, and why she continues to stand for life despite the personal cost.

You don't need to be attending the conference to come to the dinner. Everyone is welcome.

Places are limited, so if you would like to join us, please book soon rather than risk missing out.

Saturday 26 September 2026 | Auckland
Dinner Ticket: $90 per person

"This love [married love] is above all fully human, a compound of sense and spirit. It is not, then, merely a question of natural instinct or emotional drive. It is also, and above all, an act of the free will, whose trust is such that it is meant not only to survive the joys and sorrows of daily life, but also to grow, so that husband and wife become in a way one heart and one soul, and together attain their human fulfillment."
Pope Paul VI, Humanae Vitae, n.9

❤️ Conversion gives hope.

Meet Dr Ligaya Acosta.

For many years, Ligaya believed she was helping people.

During her 28 years with the Department of Health in the Philippines, she became a firm believer in population control and actively promoted contraception and sterilisation.

Then something happened that would completely change the course of her life.

In 2004, she was appointed Programme Manager for Natural Family Planning. What she began to learn challenged much of what she had previously believed and promoted.

So she started researching.

For an entire year.

What she discovered ultimately led to a remarkable 180-degree turn.

In February 2005, Ligaya walked away from her government career and lucrative consultancy work and began a new mission: defending life and family.

Today, as Regional Director for Asia and Oceania for Human Life International, she works tirelessly sharing what she discovered and equipping others to understand and defend the dignity of human life, marriage and family.

This September, Ligaya is coming to New Zealand for the Hope for the World conference.

She'll also join Father Shenan Boquet and Dr Brian Clowes for our pre-conference seminar "Begotten Not Made", where we'll explore the dignity of the human person, marriage, fertility and infertility through the lens of the Catholic faith which seeks all to flourish.

Ligaya's story is a powerful reminder that minds can change, hearts can change and no one is beyond the transforming power of truth.

"It [married love] is a love which is total—that very special form of personal friendship in which husband and wife generously share everything, allowing no unreasonable exceptions and not thinking solely of their own convenience. Whoever really loves his partner loves not only for what he receives, but loves that partner for the partner's own sake, content to be able to enrich the other with the gift of himself."

💚 Knowledge gives hope.

Dr Brian Clowes is returning to New Zealand!

When we're confronted with difficult questions about abortion, euthanasia, population, contraception and other threats to human life and the family, it isn't always easy to know what to say.

That's where knowledge matters.

For more than 30 years, Dr Brian Clowes has dedicated his life to researching the most pressing issues affecting human life. As Director of Education and Research at Human Life International, he has travelled the world educating and equipping people with the facts, evidence and arguments they need to understand the issues, and to speak the truth with confidence.

You may remember Brian from his previous visits to New Zealand (his first visit was in the 1990s). He brings an extraordinary depth of knowledge and an ability to take complex issues and make them understandable, practical and useful.

This September, Brian returns for our Hope for the World conference, where he'll help us better understand some of the challenges confronting life and family today and equip us to respond.

Because we don't need to be experts to make a difference.

But when we understand the truth, we can speak with greater confidence, answer difficult questions and become more effective advocates for life.

"Married love is also faithful and exclusive of all other, and this until death. This is how husband and wife understood it on the day on which, fully aware of what they were doing, they freely vowed themselves to one another in marriage. Though this fidelity of husband and wife sometimes presents difficulties, no one has the right to assert that it is impossible; it is, on the contrary, always honourable and meritorious. The example of countless married couples proves not only that fidelity is in accord with the nature of marriage, but also that it is the source of profound and enduring happiness."
