This is going to sound mean…. But I’m so sick of the same big animal rescues that get heaps of donations dominating these opportunities for small rescues.

Please go in and vote for us, Be Kind Exotic Animal Rescue and Happy Rescue NZ!

Wouldn’t it be amazing if a small exotic rescue that receives very little, got a chance at this?

Wouldn’t it be even better if only these 3 exotic rescues were in the draw meaning the money only went to the small rescues that get very little help?

Personally for us, with a baby bun needing 2 operations and a court case coming up for the return of one of our buns, we need ALL the help we can get.

I know that Be kind exotic rescue just rescued some parrots. And Happy rescue have had a big operation that a bunny has just had.

We don’t get $20k worth of donations in a few days to clear bills which I see many big rescues raise. These kind of donations are life changing for our rescues.

Please go and vote for our 3 rescues. 💛

Help us nominate local animal charities and rescue organisations to be voted on this July 🐾💛

As part of our Howick Heroes giveback campaign, we’re looking for animal organisations in our community that could benefit from a little extra support 🐶🐱

✨ Know a local group that deserves it?
👇 Nominate them below and tell us why they should win a share of $2000

Entries close 20th June
Our team will then shortlist 3 finalists

Let’s get behind the amazing organisations caring for animals in our community 🐾💚

Just a reminder…. These beautiful animals are relying on you. They love you. They need you. They cannot talk. They cannot pack their bags and leave if the conditions aren’t sufficient. They literally suffer in silence. They cannot advocate for themselves. They are so vulnerable and innocent and they are 100% reliant on you. Their health, well-being, welfare and life depends on YOUR decisions. If your mental health is suffering, as much as that matters very much, they matter too! If you cannot provide them with what they need, all you need to do is speak up and ask for help. Allowing your animals to live in hazardous, filthy, unsanitary conditions with no food or water is just not acceptable no matter how “hectic” your life is. They can’t speak. They can’t run. They can’t ask for help. They rely 100% on you! Imagine if you couldn’t talk, couldn’t leave, and no one knew what was happening…. And the one person you loved the most allowed you to suffer and fade away from neglect. Yet they claimed to love you, and would excuse it all once you passed. How worthless would you feel? Please remember, these animals feel pain, hunger, cold, loneliness, fear and they love deeply. They love you so much. Don’t betray them.

The Bunny Bach are happy to cover Auckland delivery for anyone who needs this.

Donated to us, but we don’t have use for some items.

Massive thanks to Petstock Ellerslie as they also donated some hay and treats we will be sending to fosterers.

Much appreciated 💕

We are needing great foster homes.

We feel like we have cleared out Auckland of great foster homes. But surely there’s more?

All we need is for you to offer a reasonable amount of dedicated space to the rabbit and give them
Appropriate time and care to ensure they’re fed, loved and their area is clean.

We cover all costs, and The Bunny Bach delivers their food to your door, so you don’t need to travel to any storage/ HQ to pick up.

All we ask of you is took us updated with photos, health checks and bring them to the vet when required.

We have some gorgeous cuties waiting for foster homes. Check our pinned post to see all of them
Currently in our care 💕

Email - [email protected]

And we will take you through our vetting process so you can join our fostering team of legends.

Cute video of Alaska taking his meds after desex surgery for attention 💛

Of you have piggies and want a new set up for them, or spare set up… whatever it is.

Supporting them by buying theirs, helps the piggies!!!

And who doesn’t want Little Hop - Cuddle Creations for Small Pets stuff for their piggies?

3 baby boys, 1 baby girl who will be getting her leg amputated and Clyde - the dad who is just the cruisiest boy as you can see, were all at the vets today.

Mum Bonnie, is desexed already, vaccinated, chipped and ready for adoption!

Dad will be ready in about 6 weeks but applications are welcome.

And the babies, they can go to foster to adopt homes, or we are open to moving them to great foster homes. They are just 10 weeks old. Now vaccinated.

They are all very friendly as rabbits go, used to lots of socialising as they’ve all been with us from you , especially the babies.

They will make some family, very happy!

A question we get asked from time to time is why The Bunny Bach does not support guinea pig shows.

The answer is actually very simple: we do not believe prey animals should be used in this way.

Guinea pigs are naturally nervous prey animals, and we personally do not believe that transporting them into loud, unfamiliar environments, handling them repeatedly, and placing them around large numbers of strangers and animals is fair on them.

Around 3 years ago, we chose to sponsor an entire guinea pig show ourselves. We did this because we wanted to properly understand the environment and see the behind the scenes side before forming a strong opinion.

Unfortunately, during that experience, we raised some welfare concerns that we felt were significant. Those concerns were ignored and left unanswered despite our involvement and sponsorship.

Concerns are one thing. Concerns being dismissed are another.

Because of that experience, and because welfare will always come first for us, it is not something The Bunny Bach chooses to support moving forward.

People are absolutely entitled to their own opinions, but we also believe businesses should be honest about where they stand when it comes to animal welfare.

This is also why our rescue, Raining Rabbits Rescue NZ, does not hold adoption days or bring live animals to public events, and why you will not see live animals being brought into The Bunny Bach store environment either.

Prey animals are not there for entertainment. Most do not enjoy these environments, and we do not believe the stress placed on them is justified.
