Last year, our CEO Amy took on the Haunted Fun Run dressed as a carrot and raised almost US$3,000 for the children and young people in our programs.

This year, she’s bringing reinforcements. A whole veggie crew is joining her, and training is already underway! 🫛🥕

On 31 October, the SafeHavens team will take on the Haunted Fun Run in Provo, Utah, with a bigger goal: raising US$10,000 for the 44 Deaf children and young people at RHERI in Nepal.

With our new partnership with the American School for the Deaf, we’re working to expand educational opportunities, strengthen Deaf identity and help create brighter, more independent futures.

Funding is the key to making this next step possible.

Whether you’re here for the cause, the vegetables, or Amy’s questionable costume choices, we’d love your support!

For Deaf and hard-of-hearing children and young people at RHERI in Nepal, communication and access go hand in hand.

Sign language teachers and interpreters play an important role in helping children communicate, learn, express themselves and participate in the world around them. By bridging communication gaps, they help create greater understanding, connection and inclusion.

As we celebrate International Translation Day this week, we recognise the people who help make that possible. 🤝

On the International Day of Sign Languages, we celebrated the power of sign language to connect, communicate and create belonging (make sure you check out the video to see our amazing teachers and students in action).🩵

Through support from RHERI staff, including sign-language teachers, the children nd young people at RHERI can develop their communication skills, connect with others and participate more fully in their communities.

Every child deserves to be heard, understood and included.

Peace is more than the absence of conflict. Peace grows through kindness, understanding and communities where everyone feels valued, heard and supported.

At SafeHavens, we believe that investing in children and their communities today helps create a more hopeful and peaceful tomorrow.

This International Day of Peace, let’s remember that every act of kindness and connection can help build a more peaceful world. 🕊️🌏

Who remembers our CEO, Amy, running as a carrot in last year’s Haunted Fun Run?🙋

Thanks to this amazing community, we raised over US$2,500 last year, which went directly to the children and young people in our programs. This year, Amy is donning the carrot suit once again, but with an even bigger goal (think, $10K bigger).

Not only that, but she might have some vegetable-adjacent friends joining her this time. Stay tuned for updates on Amy’s journey to the big day and how you can help.🥕

Today is International Literacy Day!📚

At SafeHavens, we believe every child deserves the chance to learn, because when children have access to books, wonderful things happen.

Books, safe learning spaces, and support to develop literacy skills, help children gain tools that can shape their lives for years to come.

RHERI recently joined a community awareness event at Chisapani in Nepal, highlighting the serious impacts of domestic violence, substance abuse and human trafficking.

Nirmal (a wonderful staff member from RHERI) and several young deaf children participated in the event, which brought together community members, local leaders, youth and other stakeholders.

Through powerful and relatable performances, the program encouraged greater awareness, community responsibility and collaboration to help build safer, healthier and violence-free communities.

Today, on International Day of Charity, we celebrate the power of generosity to create meaningful change.

Charity isn’t only about giving money. It’s about giving time, sharing skills, supporting communities and choosing to care about the wellbeing of others.

At SafeHavens, we believe lasting change happens when we invest in children, families and communities—working alongside local partners to help create healthier, brighter futures.

Thank you to everyone who gives, volunteers, advocates and supports our work. Together, we can help make a difference. 💙

A new Safe Drinking Water Project is underway at the RHERI hostel, helping to provide children and staff with a clean and reliable source of drinking water.

With support from Latter-day Saint Charities (LDSC Nepal), the project includes the construction of a deep tube well, water filtration and purification, and improvements to sanitation facilities.

The project was officially inaugurated on 12 July 2026, and work is now well underway. Drilling has progressed beyond 100 feet, with iron pipes being installed to support the borehole as the team works towards reaching the required depth of 150 feet.

Every step brings RHERI closer to a more reliable supply of safe drinking water, something that will make a meaningful difference to the health and wellbeing of the children and staff who call the hostel home.

We’re incredibly grateful to Latter-day Saint Charities for helping make this important project possible, and to our partner RHERI for their continued commitment to the children in their care.
