📢 OFFICIAL NOTICE | FIRST ROUND TIE-SHEET PUBLISHED

Syangja Engineering Students’ Society (SESS), Thapathali Campus hereby informs all registered participants that the First Round Tie-Sheet of the Chess Tournament – Season 2.0 has been officially published.

Participants are requested to arrive at the venue at least 15 minutes earlier to ensure smooth coordination.

🗓 Tournament Start: 8th of Poush
⏰ First Round Timing: 10:30AM AND 11:00 AM
📍 Venue: Civil Seminar Hall, Block B

All players are advised to carefully check their respective pairings from the published tie-sheet and follow the tournament rules strictly. Failure to be present on time may result in disqualification.

📌 CHESS TOURNAMENT RULES & FORMAT (Brief)

⏱ Time Control: 10+2
(10 minutes per player with 2-second increment per move)

🏆 Tournament Format:
• Knockout Stage: 2-round elimination
• Round Robin Stage: 5-round Swiss format

🎯 Scoring System:
• Win – 1 point
• Draw – ½ point
• Loss – 0 point

♟️ Important Rules:
• Touch-move rule strictly applies
• Touching opponent’s piece means capture (if legal)
• Player with Black pieces chooses clock position and side

🚫 Not Allowed:
• Pressing clock before making a move
• Using both hands
• Playing after time expires
• Touching the clock during opponent’s turn

⏳ Time Expiry:
• Time over = loss, unless opponent has insufficient mating material

⚖️ Note:
All players are expected to know basic chess rules. In case of confusion or dispute, arbiter’s decision will be final.

Participants who have not yet completed the registration are kindly requested to fill up the form within the extended deadline. This extension has been provided to ensure maximum participation and inclusivity for all chess enthusiasts.
