Digital Rights School 2026 | Youth Edition
On 19 September 2026, Digital Rights Nepal (DRN), in collaboration with Open Internet Nepal and Digital Rights Action Group (DRAG), organized a one-day Digital Rights School focused on equipping young people with the knowledge and practical skills to navigate the digital world safely, critically, and responsibly, with the support of ICNL and Norad.
👥 Participants actively engaged in discussions, scenarios, role plays, demonstrations, and practical exercises throughout the day.
The sessions explored:
🔹 Understanding and exploring digital rights
🔹 Online freedom of expression & digital civic space
🔹 Digital safety, privacy & security
🔹 Information integrity, misinformation, disinformation & AI-generated content
🔹 Fact-checking and verification skills
🔹 Responsible and ethical online engagement
🔹 Understanding digital harms, TFGBV & online abuse
🔹 Reporting, grievance mechanisms and pathways to redress

डिजिटल राइट्स नेपाल (DRN) कोशी र मधेश प्रदेशका युवा तथा युवा-नेतृत्वमा रहेका नागरिक समाजका संस्थाहरू(CSO) का लागि डिजिटल अधिकार, सुरक्षा तथा मिडिया साक्षरता सम्बन्धी एकदिने गैर-आवासीय तालिमका लागि आवेदन आह्वान गर्दछ ।

यो तालिम स्विस सरकार विकास सहयोग (एसडिसी) र UNDP Nepal को सहयोगमा सञ्चालित Advancing Civic Engagement for Democratic Participation (ACEDP) परियोजनाअन्तर्गत आयोजना हुन लागेको हो।

१८ देखि ३५ वर्ष उमेर समूहका निम्न योग्यता भएका युवाहरू तथा युवा-नेतृत्वमा रहेका नागरिक समाज संस्थाहरू आवेदन दिन सक्नेछन्:
- सम्बन्धित प्रदेशका बासिन्दा वा सोही प्रदेशमा कार्यरत व्यक्ति;
- डिजिटल/मिडिया साक्षरता, डिजिटल अधिकार, अनलाइन सुरक्षा वा नागरिक सहभागितामा रुचि भएको;
- तालिम तथा आवश्यक अन्य गतिविधिहरूमा पूर्ण रूपमा सहभागी हुन सक्ने।

🌱 महिला, अपाङ्गता भएका व्यक्ति, सीमान्तकृत तथा प्रतिनिधित्वमा पछाडि परेका समुदाय र विविध पृष्ठभूमिका व्यक्तिहरूलाई आवेदन दिन विशेष रूपमा प्रोत्साहित गरिन्छ।

Digital Rights & Safety School

Digital Rights Nepal (DRN) invites applications from youth and youth-led Civil Society Organization (CSO) representatives from Koshi and Madhesh Provinces for one-day, non-residential training on Digital Rights, Safety and Media Literacy.

The training is being organized by Digital Rights Nepal in support of the Advancing Civic Engagement for Democratic Participation (ACEDP) project, a joint initiative of the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation (SDC) and UNDP Nepal.

🎯 The training will focus on:
- Digital Rights
- Digital Harms and Safety Measures
- Information Integrity and Factchecking
- Responsible Use of Social Media
- Redress Mechanisms

👥 Who can apply?
We welcome applications from youth and Youth-led CSO aged 18–35 who:
- Are from the respective province;
- Have an interest in digital/media literacy, digital rights, online safety, or civic engagement;
- Can participate fully in the training and required activities.

🌱 We strongly encourage applications from women, persons with disabilities, marginalized and underrepresented communities, and participants from diverse backgrounds. Applicants with different levels of existing digital/media literacy are welcome.

📅 Training: 25 and 26 September, 2026 (Biratnagar) & 28 and 29 September, 2026 (Janakpur)

📢 Project Announcement | Digital Rights Nepal
We are thrilled to announce our participation in the Advancing Civic Engagement for Democratic Participation Project!
Supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and implemented by UNDP Nepal this partnership is a major step forward in our mission to champion digital rights and safety across the country.
As part of this initiative, the DRN team will be on the ground leading Digital and Media Literacy Training and Analysis in Koshi, Madhesh, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim Provinces, as well as right here in Kathmandu. We will be working closely with youth leaders and Civil Society Organization (CSO) representatives to build a safer, more informed digital ecosystem.
Through this project, we are equipping participants to:
🔹 Navigate the digital world safely by recognizing online harms and protecting digital rights.
🔹 Promote responsible civic engagement to ensure voices are heard constructively online.
🔹 Build critical media literacy to actively identify and counter misinformation.
🔹 Prevent & respond to digital threats with practical, hands-on safety measures.
We look forward to collaborating with local partners and communities across all four provinces to foster a resilient, digitally empowered citizenry capable of driving meaningful democratic participation.
