Why do digital rights matter to journalists?

Hear it straight from journalists themselves on why protecting sources, spotting misinformation, securing their digital voice, and safeguarding others’ rights are essential to responsible reporting.

Digital Rights & Safety Bootcamp 2026 🚀

Four days. 35 young changemakers. One shared mission: make digital spaces safer, freer, and more inclusive.
From 13–16 August 2026, Gen Z activists, young journalists, content creators, and youth human rights defenders came together for an energetic, hands-on bootcamp organized by Advocacy Forum Nepal, Digital Rights Nepal, and Intergenerational Civic Forum, with support from International Media Support (IMS).

💻 Learn. Map. Debate. Create. Protect.

Through threat-mapping exercises, interactive discussions, debates, games, practical digital safety sessions, and content creation, participants explored digital rights, freedom of expression, online safety, cybersecurity, and collective protection, and turned learning into action.

🔥 More than a training, the bootcamp was a space to question, connect, collaborate, and build solidarity, equipping young changemakers with practical tools and confidence to navigate digital spaces safely, responsibly, and fearlessly.

The digital future is ours to shape. Let's make it rights-respecting. ✊💻

Nepal Digital Rights School 2026 | Pokhara

📍 Pokhara, Kaski | 🗓️ 10–11 August 2026
The Nepal Digital Rights School 2026 in Pokhara brought together journalists from diverse backgrounds for two days of learning, discussion, and practical engagement on navigating an increasingly digital world. 🌐
The sessions explored digital rights and responsibilities, digital safety and security, online risks, privacy, information integrity, fact-checking, digital literacy, and responsible digital participation. Through interactive discussions, peer learning, and practical exercises, participants strengthened their understanding of how to protect their digital identities, accounts, information, and online presence, while navigating digital spaces more safely and responsibly.

The School also provided a space for journalists to share experiences, identify emerging digital risks, and build practical skills for responding to online threats and protecting themselves in their professional and personal digital lives.

We look forward to taking the Nepal Digital Rights School 2026 to more communities and creating spaces where people can understand their rights, strengthen their digital skills, and become active voices for a better digital future.
A special thank you to Media Defence (MD) for its support and to the Federation of Nepali Journalists, FNJ Pokhara, and FNJ Gandaki for their coordination and collaboration in making the Pokhara edition possible. 🙌
