Safeguarding and Child Protection Training for School Leaders.....................................................🌿

Today, Inclusive Education Nepal had the privilege of bringing together 27 school leaders and teachers of GEMS School for our Safeguarding and Child Protection Training for School Leaders.

Through the day, participants learned what Nepal's law actually requires of school leaders. They worked through realistic scenarios drawn from our own vulnerability mapping. They discussed the hardest questions: what to do when the person accused of harm is a trusted, long-serving colleague; what to do when the management committee asks you to keep things quiet.

Every participant left with a draft safeguarding action plan for their school and a commitment they spoke aloud in front of their peers.

Thank you to GEMS School, Lalitpur, for welcoming us, and to each leader who gave their full day to this work. 🙏

Every student deserves to feel like they belong.

Today, we facilitated a day-long Restorative Justice and Belonging workshop with 32 teachers at Kailash Bodhi Secondary School in Kathmandu.

Restorative practices help create school communities where relationships are repaired, not just rules enforced, and where every child feels seen, valued, and part of something.

Grateful for the leadership, energy, and commitment all teachers brought today.

A teacher once told us: "We had policies, but we didn't know what to actually do when a child spoke."

That gap between policy and practice is exactly what Inclusive Education Nepal exists to close.

In Q1 2026, we trained 89 teachers and school leaders in safeguarding, launched Nepal's first National Directory of Inclusive Education Services, and brought 31 organizations together to build the country's first National Inclusive Education Network.

None of this is the finish line. It's the foundation. Our full progress report is now available. Please read what we've learned, what we're building, and where we're headed next.

From January to March 2026, Inclusive Education Nepal (IEN) focused on advancing inclusive education not as a standalone intervention, but as a system-wide transformation, working across policy, practice, infrastructure, and public understanding. Find the report of our activities and impact here:

Thank you, 508 teachers and educators, for being part of our face-to-face trainings in the last 10 months. This is more than participation; it is a growing movement for inclusive, child-safe, and transformative education in Nepal.

Yesterday’s national meeting of the National Inclusive Education Network in Kathmandu marked a strong step forward in building a truly collective movement for inclusive education in the country. The Network, bringing together educators, academics, organizations, and advocates, is not just a platform for dialogue but a growing force for coordinated national action.

The discussions focused on moving beyond fragmented efforts toward a shared advocacy agenda, including strengthening policy engagement with government, promoting Universal Design for Learning in classrooms, advancing inclusive safeguarding practices, and pushing for accessible learning materials for all learners.

Thank you to everyone in the Network for your clear commitment to amplify voices across the ecosystem, build evidence on what works, and engage decision-makers more strategically over the next few months.
