Day 3 — 24 May — Media & journalism as tools for change
On the third day, we explored one of the most powerful forces shaping our perceptions of the world: the media.
Through discussions, workshops, and critical analysis, we examined how gender is represented across different forms of media, from magazine covers and news reporting to advertising campaigns and social media content. We asked important questions: Who creates these narratives? Who benefits from them? And how do these portrayals influence the way we see ourselves and others?
By looking beyond the surface, we identified stereotypes, biases, and inequalities that continue to exist in media representation. At the same time, we discovered inspiring campaigns and stories that challenge harmful norms, promote diversity, and give space to underrepresented voices.
The day encouraged us not only to become more critical consumers of media but also to think about our own role as creators of change. Inspired by successful examples, we started developing ideas for our own awareness campaigns, using creativity and storytelling as tools to promote gender equality and social inclusion.
Every message matters. Every voice matters. And every story has the power to create change. 💬✨
