Just taken this little one to News Era vets, blue plastic bottle ring right round its middle, the ring had cut into the flesh deeply, must have been there since the hog was much smaller, very firm plastic no give to it at all, maggots and fly eggs in the wound.
Fingers crossed without much hope....what damage has been done internally by all that constriction for so long??

Continuing our 2026 season in the Le Rocquier School car park.

No need to book, just turn up. £10 a pitch.

08:30 to 13:00 (stall-holders can set up from 07:00)

Bring your goods, rails and tables. (We do not hire tables or rails) If you wish to use a gazebo, it must stay within your pitch area.
Plenty of parking, toilets and light refreshments available on site.

WE DO NOT TAKE BOOKINGS

We have space for around 90 pitches and please do not be upset if we have to turn you away because we are full. This is for the safe operation of the site and all its users.

The LAST car boot sale of the year will be on 3rd October.

Meet Jo's boys and one little woman! All from Avranches Manor, all around 80g and the 2 that were here last night ate for themselves fingers crossed! One is weaker than the rest.

Following on from the great success of our last delivery of wooden feeding stations, we now have a supply of plastic ones for £10 each while we wait for a second delivery of wooden ones. If you would like a plastic box, please ring 01534 734340 to arrange collection from White Lodge in Waterworks Valley.

You may need several bricks or stones to make these boxes bird/cat proof. You will need one inside the box 13cm away from the entrance hole, one outside the entrance 13cm away and possibly another on the lid of the box to keep the lid in place. These are good to use on patios or other hard surfaces and they are easily washable.

This photo shy boy was found at at the side of the road in Fonds de Longueville on Bank Holiday Monday. He was dragging his right hind leg. Many thanks to the kind ladies on horseback who alerted us and to the enterprising people who live opposite who took him into their house for safety and made themselves known to me as I was looking for a disappeared hedgehog by a road sign!

He has spent 2 nights at New Era vets where his hind leg had to be amputated, it was too badly damaged to be saved. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery !

2 juveniles released today, they both had lovely rescue stories. The first one was found in hedge clippings on Grande Route de Mont a L'Abbe at the end of June. The people who found him were on an organised walk, but abandoned that to stay with the hoglet and help me look for others or the mum, to no avail. The little thing did well and has gone to the National Trust property opposite where he was found. So we have a lovely new release site as well! The second one was found by a young boy on St Brelade's football pitch down the hole the goal post had sat in. He has gone to one of our volunteers in the area. Sorry never took pictures before they went! Here they are when they were tiny!
