Yesterday saw our first 2026 public display at our home base - the Imperial War Museum airfield at Duxford in Cambridgeshire. The display was the 'IWM Duxford Flying Day: D-Day' and the crew consisted of captains John Harmsworth and Phill Petitt (flying as co-pilot on this occasion) plus Andy Frost as crew chief. The weather was not kind and caused most acts to pull out but, despite a substantial crosswind and low cloud with rain or drizzle, the conditions were within our operating limits. The slot was brought forward by 70 minutes but we were still able to offer 'walkthroughs' and meet the public on our sales stand. Thanks to all who braved the weather to come and see us. The nickel framed photo by volunteer crew member Cosmo Gillespie gives a good idea of the Catalina's design from the rear - and shows a brief moment of blue sky and the windsock registering the crosswind.

As we celebrate Volunteer Week, we're shining a spotlight on the incredible people who help bring the Jersey International Air Display to life.

From supporting pilots and crews behind the scenes to assisting visitors and helping operations run smoothly, our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Their dedication ensures that thousands of spectators can gather along the bay each year to enjoy breathtaking aircraft displays, unforgettable moments, and a true community celebration.

Think of those iconic scenes from years gone by: families gathered along the waterfront, crowds looking skyward as historic and modern aircraft paint the sky, and the shared excitement that makes the Air Display such a special part of Jersey's calendar. None of it would be possible without the time, energy, and enthusiasm of our volunteers.

To every volunteer, past and present, thank you for helping create memories that last a lifetime. đŸ€

We’ve now successfully completed the practice jumps from Aero Legends’ Douglas C-47 Dakota “Drag ‘em Oot” at Cherbourg Airport ahead of the busy week of D-Day commemorative operations to come.

Tomorrow, sister aircraft “Pegasus” will join us from North Weald as both Aero Legends Dakotas come together in Normandy. The next eight days are packed with commemorative parachute jumps across Normandy, supporting events throughout both the British and American drop zones as part of the 82nd Anniversary D-Day commemorations.

It is a huge privilege to continue operating these historic aircraft in the role they were originally built for, whilst helping keep the legacy of the airborne forces and D-Day operations alive for future generations.

A quick Seafire update! As you can see from the photo, the prop has now been fitted. We're now entering the final stages of her return to flight and we hope to be able to report on ground runs in the coming weeks.

✈ AIRSHOW NEWS ✈

The Red Arrows will fly as a seven-ship in 2026.

Nine jets will still appear for selected flypasts, but the full Diamond Nine display is not expected this season as the RAF manages the ageing Hawk T1 fleet.

It marks a very different-looking year for the Reds, with bigger questions now hanging over what comes after the Hawk.
