As per government data, there is approximately one stray dog for every 100 people in India. While it is not possible or feasible to find homes for every stray dog, what truly makes a difference is being a responsible human in their presence.
Not everyone loves stray dogs, but the ones who care for them can give them a safe and dignified life by feeding them responsibly and getting them sterilised and vaccinated.
Mother Teresa once said, “If you can't feed a hundred people, then just feed one.” The same holds true for stray animals as well, especially stray dogs, who suffer tremendously on the streets without access to food, water, or shelter. The suffering of stray dogs in India would reduce significantly if each citizen accepted responsibility for providing food for one stray dog in their area and arranged for the dog to be spayed or neutered. Additionally, this would result in better management of their population in each community and reduce human-dog conflict.
Stray dogs don't have a voice to ask for food, water, or protection from abuse or cruelty. We have to become their voice.
CCC offers sterilisation services for stray dogs in Pune, PCMC, and other areas at no cost. Every dog sterilised at our centre is vaccinated and provided post-operative care as per the 5-day sterilisation process established by the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI).
