We are delighted to share that STRAW India was recently featured on DD National's DD Morning Show, where our Founder, Vasanthi Kumar, and Humane Educator, V. Amruta Varshini, spoke about the importance of humane education and its role in building a more compassionate society.

During the conversation, we highlighted how humane education helps nurture empathy, kindness, and responsible behaviour towards animals from an early age and creates a ripple effect where young students amplify their learnings by speaking to their siblings, friends and even their parents. We also shared insights from our recent Paws & Paint campaign, which used creativity and engagement to encourage children to connect with and care for animals.

We are grateful to DD National for providing a platform to discuss the significance of humane education and animal welfare with a wider audience. Conversations like these are important in creating awareness and inspiring positive action for both animals and communities alike.

A special thank you to the anchors, Divya Rajpal and Satyapriya, for making the discussion engaging and meaningful.

One of the most touching highlights of our visit was witnessing the water bowls we gifted to the morning show anchors and producer Shrabani Dasgupta thoughtfully placed within the DD National premises for birds and small animals. Acts of kindness like these may seem simple, but during the scorching summer months, access to clean water can truly be life‑saving for community animals.

We look forward to continuing our efforts to promote humane education and create a more compassionate world for all living beings.

Paws & Paint Campaign Conclusion: 500+ Bowls of Compassion! 🎨

What an incredible finale! We wrapped up our Paws and Paint campaign with an unforgettable day at the Plantarium Vegan Bazar in Hyderabad. People from all walks of life came together, tapped into their creativity, and united for a beautiful cause.

With this final chapter, we are absolutely thrilled to announce that we have successfully placed over 500+ hand-painted water bowls across Bhopal, Delhi, and Hyderabad over the past month!

A massive thank you to Help Animals India for this continuous support and encouragement. Grateful to Plantarium Vegan Space for being such a wonderful host, and a special shoutout to Sanjeev Anna for his invaluable help in sourcing the bowls in Hyderabad.

Together, we are creating a compassionate world for animals, one bowl at a time.

Not all superheroes wear capes to fight villains. Some protect animals, care for people, and stand up for nature. 🐾

We had the wonderful opportunity to bring this project to life with the talented kids of Bhopal. Seeing them stage this heartwarming skit was a beautiful reminder that kindness, compassion, and responsibility are the greatest superpowers of all.

We were absolutely delighted to see parents thoroughly enjoy the performance and share such positive, encouraging feedback for our young actors.

This Empathy Day, let’s take a moment to look beyond actions and appearances, listen with understanding, and respond with kindness. When we choose to care about how others might be feeling, we help create a world where everyone (humans or non-humans) feels seen, valued, and supported.

Bringing smiles and stories to the brave little warriors at MNJ Cancer Hospital, Hyderabad. 💙💚

Last month, we hosted a special storytelling workshop all about kindness and compassion. Seeing these incredible kids connect with stories of love and care reminded us how a little bit of kindness can brighten even the toughest days.

A huge thank you to Anil for arranging this wonderful workshop, and to Gayatri and Kirti for bringing the stories to life and beautifully capturing these moments.

Rise of the Night Guardians to fight the Light Pollution!

We recently hosted our "Stories of Kindness" online workshop, where 27 incredible students joined forces to tackle a dark problem: Light Pollution.

Through our story, we followed Pari, a true night guardian, and the animals to understand how artificial light impacts wildlife. From disrupted migration patterns to confused nocturnal friends, our ecosystem needs a break from the glow.

The good news is that we can take action RIGHT NOW:

1. Turn off outdoor lights when they aren't needed.
2. Point your lights downward so they only illuminate the ground, not the sky.
3. Switch to warm, amber LED bulbs.

Huge shoutout to all the young eco-warriors who attended! Let’s keep working together to bring back the stars and protect our wildlife.

True education goes beyond textbooks; it is about expanding the boundaries of our empathy.

We recently connected with 210 students from 5th and 6th grade at Achievers Academy in Bangalore for our Compassionate Classroom program.

We invited these young minds to see life through a dog's eyes, exploring canine behaviour, rabies awareness, the daily struggles of street dogs, and practical ways to help them.

Equipping children with the knowledge to stay safe around street dogs isn't just about safety; it's about replacing fear with compassion.

Our gratitude goes to Achievers Academy for welcoming these vital discussions, and we are deeply thankful to Help Animals India for their unwavering support.

Turning Pages, Drawing Compassion 📚🎨

We spent a wonderful day at the Kala Kshetra Summer Camp, collaborating with the Disability Reading Circle for a very special workshop. Together with the children, we dove into books and big conversations about the struggles faced by street dogs, the lived experiences of people with disabilities, and the true meaning of inclusion.

The children truly opened their hearts. After reading, they shared how difficult it must be to navigate the world with different disabilities. They even beautifully pointed out that animals can have disabilities too, and deserve just as much care and understanding.

To help express these big emotions, the reading session was followed by a wonderful art workshop led by Karthik where the kids drew their visions of a kinder, more inclusive world.

Huge gratitude to Kala Kshetra for hosting us, and to the children for opening their minds and hearts so completely.

Together, we’re creating a compassionate world for humans and animals, one child at a time
