On Saturday morning last we had a busy Day supporting the Offaly Athletics, Tullamore Harriers , Half Marathon 2026 Event

Over the course of the day we had 18 volunteers of various skill sets which included CFR, FAR, EFR and EMT covering the Medical Response at the event.
Our Response included 3 Ambulances which brought some patients from the race back to the medical Tent at the Harriers, Some Hospital Transfers were also required.

A big thank you to our colleagues in Westmeath and Laois units for assisting with Volunteers and Ambulance 🚑 support on the day.

A big thank you to our own team on the day who were busy at times especially at the finish line where some competitors needed that support and reassurance that they would be fine.

Our team were well prepared and were thanked by many of the competitors for their reassurance and support when required. We wish all who needed some further care a speedy recovery.

All roads lead to the Butterfield Estate on the outskirts of Tullamore once again for the 2026 Tullamore Show event on Sunday August 9th from 9am - 6 pm

Offaly Civil Defence will have a stand at the show this year and are located at stand 9A which is located in the Emerrgency Services area close to Exit gate 5.

During the day drop by and say hello to our team who will be available to speak to you about Civil Defence from 9am to 6 pm. We will have some demonstations during the day also.

These walks are great for a number of reasons, keeping fit, familiarity of various pathways and routes across the Slieve Blooms in Laois and Offaly.

Many thanks to Mayo CD for the invitation to attend and assist at the homecoming in Castlebar yesterday evening.

Offaly CD provided Medical responders on Bikes around Castlebar town which included, The Mall, Train Station and McHale park at the homecoming of the Mayo team. The town came to a standstill for sometime.

Units from Mayo, Galway, Roscommon and Longford and Offaly were also in attendance supporting the event.

It was a very special event seeing thousands of Mayo people and players overwhelmed with the excitement as the crowds gathered for hours in advance of the 2026 team arriving home with SAM to Mayo.

Many Thanks to our Colleagues in Meath CD in which our volunteers had a fantastic day at the Luke Combs concert in Slane a first for all of us in Offaly. We joined many of our colleagues from across the country supporting the Team in Meath .

A Beautiful location on the River Boyne CD resource included . Medical and logistical support , Boat Crews on the River Boyne , Welfare teams who catered for all our CD resources on the day along with other agencies in attendance also.

Again a big thank you to Shane and Patricia for the excellent set up and the hospitality on the day.

This time of the year we are busy supporting local Events across the County and also supporting colleagues across the Country when required with Medical and Logistical support.

This weekend we have a group of Volunteers travelling to Slane to support our colleagues in Meath CD.

Weather conditions should continue in to the early part of next week. Make sure to protect yourself and especially the younger members of our communities across the Country in this warm weather event.

🔷🔶Sun protection cream should be applied every 3/4 hours in these Conditions. ✅

🔷🔶Hydration for all of us is important also, Don’t for get the pets we have at home who require cool water also ✅

🔷🔶We have had fatalities already this week with families loosing loved ones in water related incidents. Water is lovely but also Dangerous if you’re not experienced or equipped properly to deal with these currents you may encounter difficulties. ✅

🔷🔶 if you see someone in distress Diall 999 and request the Emergency Services. Give as much details as you can to the call taker. ✅

🔷🔶Remember water is enjoyable but also very Dangerous. ✅
