Meet Jojo&Penelope.
Warning: Double Trouble Available for Adoption! 🐱
-Approximately 16 weeks old
-Neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and treated for parasites.
They are 2 bonded kittens with different approaches to life.
🖤🤍 Jojo: “Hi! I’m Jojo! I love cuddles! I love purring! Would you like to see me purr some more?”
🖤 Penelope: “I’m just going to sit over here and assess the situation.. once I'm relaxed give me rubs and I'll purr so sweetly” ❤️
Jojo is the brave, confident purrball of the pair, while Penelope is a sweet, shy girl who just needs a little patience and reassurance to show you her softer side.
Luckily, they have each other. Jojo provides the confidence, Penelope provides the mysterious elegance and together they run around chasing each other, making anything into a fun toy and ruling the house. 😹🐾

The clean-up continues after another incredible Electric Picnic, and today we’ve been busy returning thousands of cans and bottles to raise vital funds for the animals in our care.

A huge thank you to every single volunteer who helped collect, sort, bag and return the recyclables. Your time and hard work will make a real difference to the cats, dogs and wildlife that rely on Laois SPCA.

A very special thank you goes to Downey’s Portlaoise for their amazing support. When the return machines experienced stoppages, they kindly provided staff to help keep everything moving. Your generosity and teamwork were greatly appreciated.

Together, you’ve turned empty bottles into hope for animals in need. 🐾💚

Hi my name is Dewey.!
I'm an 11-week-old black kitten with a fancy little white bow tie under my chin, so I'm basically dressed for every occasion. Photos? Autographs? I'll be ready. I'm not quite as reserved as my brother Huey, but I like to take my time getting to know new people. You know what they say... stranger danger! Once I decide you're one of the good humans, though, I'll happily let my goofy side shine. I'd love a home with another friendly cat who can show me the ropes—especially the important stuff, like the best sunbathing spots, zoomie routes, and the secret techniques for convincing humans to hand out extra treats. I hear the "cute face and tiny meow" strategy has a pretty high success rate. If you're looking for a dapper little gentleman with just the right mix of sweet, silly, and sensible, I think we might just be the purr-fect match!

Blathnaid. is about 2 years old and a real personality. She was a farm cat, we went out and trapped her and her 2 co mammies, got them neutered and took their 9 kittens into foster care. A couple of days after her surgery we got a call from the humans to say Bláthnaid wasn't doing well. When our volunteer arrived out to the farm she noticed that Bláthnaid's tail was limp. When she got her to the vet it transpired that she had gotten a bang of something, her tail was paralysed and she was unable to empty her bladder or bowel. She ended up staying in the vets for 10 days, having her bladder expressed as she slowly regained control (and gave out to the team as they expressed her daily 🤦🏻‍♀️). She came into foster care to recover and slowly regained control of her bladder and bowel. It's all back to full function now! Unfortunately her tail became necrotic and had to be amputated. She had a tough couple of months but she says it was worth it because she has no interest in being a farm cat. She loves the pet life and wants all the attention! She is a real charmer and will be straight up in your arms, loving on you. She nearly ran off with the Jehovah's witnesses that called to her foster home!
She has been known to nibble on fingers that are not actively rubbing her. As well as loving rubs her other interests include playing and snoozing on the human. She is used to dogs and is not shy about chasing her lurcher foster brothers if they are getting too boisterous, the dogs have learned that she will throw a swipe at them just because she can, so they keep an eye on her when she's playing nice or trying to share their bed. She has a definite dislike of a few of her feline foster siblings and will chase them mercilessly, but loves others. She knows her likes and dislikes! A controlled introduction will be required for other animals but she might be enough pet all on her own! This girl is a real character who will find her spot in your life and fill it with fun and love immediately.

PhileasFogg.
He turned up at a cat lovers house in Ballylinan last year, a bit skinny and snotty so we arranged for him to go to the vet in Castlecomer. Unfortunately he escaped the carrier in the car, then escaped from the car and took off up the lane near the vet. We were out knocking on doors and asking around the area all week. We even set up a camera in a farmyard where a black cat was spotted. We caught that black cat, it wasn't Phileas (but we removed his testicles anyway 😸) . We were beginning to lose hope when 10 days later we got a phone call from another cat lover in Kilkenny city who said Phileas was in her yard, starving! We were sceptical, that's 19km from where he escaped and he's an all black cat, it couldn't be him. But it was!! He was by then the skinniest cat we had ever taken in. He was 2.6kg... Now he's 7.4kg! And his coat is starting to shine!
He got his name because of his extensive travels. It took quite a while to get him snot free and in such good condition but now this big chunk of cat is ready for adoption! He's about 2 years old, thriving and huge!
He is a gentle giant though. He gets on well with all his foster siblings, he's very gentle with the little kittens, even standing back and letting them have his dinner. He is used to other cats but given his size he is quite intimidating for other adults and they may be especially hostile, so a controlled introduction will be necessary for new cats.
He is used to dogs and likes winding between the legs of his lurcher foster brothers.
He loves to snuggle up and get rubs, he's a very sweet gentle boy so would be suitable for a home with children.

Meet Shinx.
A 3-month-old professional kitten and part-time treat enthusiast! 🍗 She’s been working hard at mastering the mysterious art of Indoor Cat Life™. She’s still a little shy and skittish, but mention the word “treat” and suddenly you’ve got her full attention. She’s very food motivated, so if you’re wondering how to win her heart… snacks. The answer is snacks. 😼 When she’s not patiently awaiting her next delicious bribe, Shinx loves playing with her sister and attacking approximately every toy in sight. She’d do best in a quiet home, ideally with a confident feline friend to show her the ropes. She hasn’t been tested with dogs or children yet, so those remain mysterious creatures in the Shinx universe. Shinx will be ready for her forever home in approximately two weeks, after she’s spayed. In the meantime, she’ll be perfecting her treat-waiting technique. ❤️ Interested in becoming Shinx’s personal snack dispenser? She’s accepting applications. 😹

This is Skitty.
A 3 month old female kitten. She is a little shy sometimes still, but she will brave pretty much anything for a licky treat. She has decided she likes rubs, and will sit and yell at you for not doing it right or enough (the whims of cats are indecipherable). She doesn't mind being picked up, but she hasn't learned how nice chilling out on your lap is (yet). Give her some time and she'll only become more affectionate! She loves to play with her sister Shinx and the resident cat, and her adoration of toys knows no bounds. She is not tested with dogs or children. She's quite confident, and will approach strangers in the hope of a treat. Skitty will be ready for her new home in approximately two weeks after she is spayed.

MISSING CAT GRACEFIELD PORTARLINGTON

Chewie has gone wandering, she is a house cat and is beloved by her owner, the cat went missing in the Gracefield area , the owner lives in Avondale so we’re hoping she is in the area of colaiste iosagain, st Joseph’s tec and surrounding area possibly as far as clonegowan. Chewie is chipped friendly and obviously frightened. If you find her or have picked her up or see her please contact 0879618439. Reward for any help. Thank you
