We are a charity based in Portlaoise, Co. Laois working with women and children subjected to domestic violence and coercive control. Established in 2006, Laois Domestic Abuse Service aims to support women experiencing domestic abuse to maximise their safety, in the

ir own homes, by providing Impartial and Confidential Support and Information. We do this on the understanding that the wisdom and resilience of the women we work with is our main resource. OUR SERVICES:

Information Line
Women can call our information line where trained personnel give support and information in a confidential and non-judgmental manner. One to one support work
Women may visit our service with an appointment and a member of staff will provide a support session and listening ear to assist the women in deciding what next step she would like to take and discuss her options. Advocacy + Accompaniment
Advocating on behalf of clients and accompanying them to relevant services. Court Accompaniment
This service is available to those pursuing legal options through the court system such as obtaining an order, breaches of orders and judicial or legal separations. It involves providing emotional support for a woman at a time when she may feel frightened and isolated. Referral Service
Referring women to relevant agencies, which will be of benefit to them with their written consent. Outreach Service
Travelling to meet women, who are unable to travel to our service, in an environment in which they will feel comfortable. Counselling
Counselling is available to clients of the service.

πŸ’œ Community matters.
On Sunday, our team attended the Abbeyleix House & Farm Family Day Abbeyleix House and Farm where we had the opportunity to meet families, share information about our service, and raise awareness of domestic abuse and the supports available throughout County Laois.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by our stall. Every conversation helps break the silence around domestic abuse and increases awareness of where support can be found.
Together, we can build safer communities.

⚽️ The World Cup creates moments of connection, pride and celebration that bring communities together.

However, alongside this excitement, there is a lesser-known reality. Studies have found that domestic violence can increase during major football tournaments. As the crowd cheers the final whistle, some women are left bracing for what comes next.

Sport should unite us, not put anyone at risk πŸ’œβš½οΈ
