For parents who support and adult child in addiction
Decades Club
🗓️Every week on Thursdays
🕦 1pm-2.30pm
📍The Tree Room, Colchester

Last week we held our very first session of Decades Club. This weekly support group was set up due to the increasing numbers of people in their 60s, 70s and 80s, supporting their adult children struggling with addiction.

This is a message from From Carol, a mom supporting her adult son, for over 30years.

“The first session of the Decades club was a resounding success. We talked about many ways the group could support us. We decided to bring topics next week that we felt were relevant. Having a monthly theme to focus on, and of course selfcare learning to support ourselves.

It was the shared experience of the group, we all brought similar long term challenges that are part of our daily lives. Knowing we share the same passion to make the best of family life. We know the wider family are affected by one persons addictions. We also shared that the world is not always understanding or kind to people who don’t fit a certain mould. We want to explore the idea of kindness for all of society. Blossome was very aware of our needs and a way forward that can support us in finding helpful support. Fantastic start to a journey of healing.”

If you are supporting your adult children through their addiction, you are very welcome to join us . You can book your free space so we can help you get to the sessions, or simply dropin. 🤗

A Great Day in York 🤍

It was great taking our first resident over to the York in Recovery Hub today.
He got stuck right in — a couple of games of pool with peers, some laughs, and the start of building real recovery connections.

I had a good catch‑up with Mark, and also spent time chatting with someone who’s struggling with alcohol dependency. I shared my lived experience and we talked through his options for detox and what support could look like for him.

Days like this show what recovery communities are all about — connection, hope, and meeting people exactly where they’re at 🤍
