🌊PASSIONATE ABOUT WATER SAFETY 🌊

I have always Loved the water and respected it. So becoming a swimming teacher is a dream come true.

But I cannot do the good work I do without the help of others who also raise awareness of water safety.

The Sea Womble is a colleague (who recently helped with my Channel Swim Challenge) and now friend who is undertaking a mammoth challenge to swim between all RNLI stations in the UK.

The RNLI is a charity that saves lives at sea. They do this through lifeboat search and rescue, lifeguards, water safety education and flood rescue. All run by volenteers.

Please support the Sea Womble by spreading the word about his journey which you can follow on his page.

Cheers!
Debbie

SWIM ENGLAND MASTERS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS (25m)

City of York Swimmer, Angus Leckonby was back in action again this weekend at the Masters National Championships in Sheffield.

DAY 1
Angus had quite the start in his first event, the 1500m Freestyle. He not only gained an 8 second PB but also the bronze medal in the 18/24 year age group.

In the second session, Angus swam in the 200m Freestyle. Let's
say not his worst effort but also not his best!

In the third and final session of the day Angus pulled a 2.5 second best time of the bag on his 100m Butterfly.

DAY 2
I am not sure if it was the porridge that Angus had in the morning or the Five Guys he had the night before, (we did try for the healthy option but the wait time was just ridiculous) but in his first event he hauled out another big PB (over 3 seconds!) in the 100m Breast Stroke and in the process won the bronze medal in the Para Swimming category.

In his last event, Angus had a very solid swim in the 400m Freestyle touching the wall in 4.44.72 - his entry time!

That's us signing off until next time!

DIVING PRACTICE!

The start is one of the most important parts of a race and here you can see the boys having some video analysis done on their dives to make them as efficient and fast as possible.

Well done guys!

JAMES GUY SWIM CAMP - CLEETHORPES AND DISTRICT SWIMMING CLUB

On Saturday 24th September 2022, Special Olympics Swimmer Angus Leckonby attended a Swim Camp run by James Guy and his family that was organised by Angus's swimming club at Cleethorpes.

James Guy is a team GB swimmer and won a Gold Medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics as well as winning many international and World Championship Medals. James is probably Angus's favourite swimmer so it was such a great opportunity to attend this camp and learn from one of the world's best.

The day started with a 2 hours swimming session focusing on technical and racing skills in both the freestyle and butterfly strokes. This was promptly followed by a land training session and then a talk from James on his story from the low of failures and highs of international success.

A fantastic day for all who attended.

SWIM ENGLAND NORTH EAST PARA SWIMMING REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 2022
A very good day for Special Olympic Athlete Angus yesterday at the Sunderland Aquatics Centre. Fives races and five wins over 2 hours!
Swimming in the first long course event of the season he started off in top form with a 3 second best time in the 400m Freestyle followed by solid swims in his next events over a very condensed programme! Here are the results:
400m Freestyle 🥇
100m Backstroke 🥇
200m Freestyle 🥇
100m Butterfly 🥇
200m Individual Medley 🥇
Lots of work still to do in training but a solid benchmark from which to build.
