Last weekend our Axe Forging students had the pleasure of a class led by the deeply knowledgable and skilled Piers from ⚒️✨

Starting off in cabinetry with a flair for the metalworking, Piers is an exceptional and experienced blacksmith based in Malton, whom we met at the epic a couple years ago🍻

His humour and friendliness compliment his ability perfectly🌄
He'll be making more appearances on our sessions so keep an eye out!

Today we did something a little different - a willow weaving intro workshop🧺

Down at the ever tranquil estate we worked with the mixed group to craft some small foraging baskets, perfect for introducing the basics ⚒️

It's always a true delight to be with the dedicated team there, and a special thank you to Sarah for putting it all together🌄

🔥Slane Viking Festival🔥

Oeganised by the and Boyne Valley Events, this is a truly unforgettable one🐦‍🔥

Over the weekend we were surrounded by intense battles, incredible crafts, indulgent food, indomitae laughter, inspirational music, and an impeccable atmosphere 🍻

As we ran our blacksmithing workshops and demonstrations the community spirit and immersive environment was second to none🎶

This truly is a one-of-a-kind slice of happiness looked after by incredible folk✨

Ireland, we've loved every minute and we'll be back before you know it!🌄

Our behind-the-scenes work to keep the workshops, events, and custom projects going is seldom seen (something we will be changing this year), but it's happening every day⚒️

When it's almost all done by hand it keeps us fit and healthy, and as close as possible to the materials and their nature🌳

And it's damn good fun ✨

🔥Today was a truly awesome day🔥

We had the incredible honour of visiting the behind-the-scenes aspects of the magical ✨

Our aim was to learn as much as we could in preparation for some custom work for an upcoming exhibit - and boy did we get the chance!⚒️

From a tour of the stores that holds mountains of unbelievably well looked after and documented items, led by the amazingly knowledgeable Natasha and .deane2 ...
..through an in-depth look at different pieces and materials being incredibly well maintained or restored in the conservation and restoration department with ...
..to the deep-dive into the museum workshop spaces led by the vastly experienced Giles 🐦‍🔥

We cannot thank enough for making today possible and organising such a profound opportunity for us🍻

Leeds Royal Armouries is truly a special place in the hands of incredible people, we cannot wait to be back 🌄
