It was a real privilege to be welcomed by the community at St John’s, Rosmead Street, Hull, on Saturday for the launch of 'Walking with Angels' by Bishop Eleanor Sanderson, the Archbishop of York’s Advent Book for 2026.

Inspired by some of the people pictured here, and their own experiences of angels, 'Walking with Angels' invites us to slow down, step outside, and engage both body and spirit as we journey through Advent.

The book is available now from SPCK and independent bookshops in Hull and further afield!

“Words are inadequate, but we pray that all those affected, including those who serve in our emergency services, may know God’s presence and love.”

Join us in Hull tomorrow with Bishop Eleanor Sanderson for the launch of Walking with Angels - the Archbishop of York’s Advent Book for 2026.

This autumn, churches across are joining Bible Society and Transforming Teesside Together for Bible Conversations: Teesside. A major advertising campaign will invite thousands of people to explore the Bible and discover more about Christian faith.

You can join us at the campaign’s opening prayer service on Monday 17 August, 7.00–9.00pm, at St Barnabas Church Middlesbrough.

We’re looking for lay and ordained people of all ethnic backgrounds to join us as volunteer Racial Justice Advocates. We’d particularly love to hear from UKME/GMH people, whose voices and leadership are currently underrepresented in the Church.

You don’t need to be an expert or have all the answers. What matters is that you care about this work, are open to learning alongside others, and want to help make our churches more just and welcoming.

As part of its centenary year, St Mary the Virgin, Nunthorpe, joined up with Nunthorpe and Marton Knitters to create something special for the whole community.

Knitted and crocheted flowers were “planted” around the church, alongside a beautifully crafted church-mouse wedding - and this has inspired the first of our summer Parish Postcards: glimpses of Christ’s story being lived in communities across our diocese.
