Today, the Church of England has issued an apology for its role in historical adoption practices.

We recognise the pain, trauma and stigma experienced by mothers, adopted people and their families — and that the effects continue to be felt today.

You can read the national apology and our bishops' response affirming it on behalf of the Diocese of York. You can also find information about support and how to access records on our website (link in comments).

We’re looking forward to all those speaking in our Becoming more like Christ sessions at this year’s Diocesan Conference...

From our keynote speaker, Michael Curry, to Lisa Oakley, Malcolm Guite, Emily Owen, Miriam Thurlow, Tom Bates-Bourne, Sammi Tooze, and Fiona Mayer-Jones, this part of the programme will help us reflect on what it means to be rooted in Jesus, changed by grace, and renewed in hope.

Every church relies on people who keep things running smoothly behind the scenes.

As we say farewell to , we’re thankful for PCC members, treasurers, Gift Aid officers, electoral roll officers, committee members, and all who support the life of our parishes.

Your time, care, and unwavering dedication help enable churches to make good decisions, manage resources well, and focus on mission.

Thank you for helping us live Christ’s story across the Diocese of York.
