Citizens Advice York We offer free, confidential and impartial advice on issues including welfare benefits, debt, employment, housing, immigration, discrimination and family law.

We help people by telephone, email, webchat and (where COVID restrictions allow) face-to-face at neighbourhood outreach sessions. We are an independent charity affiliated with the national organisation Citizens Advice. We have 50+ volunteers, supported by a small professional staff team who run the organisation and provide essential training and supervision. Our work makes a tremendous difference

to people’s lives. In 2019/20 we helped 3,452 York people with 15,374 problems. We also helped people gain £1,282,046 in income, largely from unclaimed benefits and tax credits. By helping them find a way out of debt, our clients had a total of £3,030,683 in debts managed or written off.
