Good morning from the Beavers “Sleep”over at Riccall St Mary’s!

Two teams of Riccall Scouts took on a 25km expedition along the River Ouse this weekend, having planned their own routes, menus and equipment lists.

They successfully navigated themselves from Barlby to Selby then on to Tamarak Scout Campsite where they pitched their tents, cooked their teas then had a well-earned rest around the campfire before bed. The next day they packed up and made their return journey.

A fantastic achievement for a group of 11-13 year olds, most of whom had never done anything similar before. Well done to them all!

Happy St. George’s Day - patron saint of scouting!

Riccall Scouts is thriving right now with all sections at capacity, and full programmes well underway for the spring and summer. We’re always on the lookout for new volunteers to join our section teams so we can support more local young people.

If that’s not for you, we also have a number of ‘back room’ roles:

* Volunteer recruitment
* Fundraising/securing grants
* Newsletters, press and social media
* Managing the waiting list
* Looking after the Group's kit and equipment
* Trustees to help ensure what we do is safe, legal and financially sustainable.

A massive thank you to all our volunteers on Founder’s Day. Without them there would be no Riccall Scouts and none of the opportunities we provide to local young people to gain would happen.

Want to get involved? We’re always on the lookout for new volunteers, and you don’t need any experience or special skills - though you’ll have the chance to gain plenty of both, and have a lot of fun too!

There’s a wide range of ways you can help - from joining our section teams to becoming a trustee to helping with the admin. Get in touch to find out more!
