It’s Refugee Week 2026!

Refugee Week is the world’s largest arts and culture festival celebrating the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees and people seeking asylum.

This year’s theme is Courage which recognises the strength it takes to face the unknown, build a new life, learn new languages and find your place in a new community.

It is also a call to show courage through listening, speaking with kindness and creating communities where everyone feels welcome.

At Citizens Advice North Somerset, we stand with refugees and are proud to support a message of understanding, compassion and inclusion.

Our services are here for everyone, whoever you are and whatever challenges you may be facing.

On Tuesday, 30th June, Optelec UK - solutions for Low Vision are holding their 'Solution for Low Vision Day' with several providers, VANS, CAB and of course, us here at Vision North Somerset.

The event is being held in our lovely Bradbury Room, at 3 Neva Road. We would love you all to join us between 11am and 2pm.

- We will be demonstrating the RayBan smart glasses.
- We have items of ex-stock for sale, so you can grab a bargain,
- We will have refreshments available, including a nice slice of cake.

No need to book a place, just come along.

We'll be joined by Alliance Homes Group, Curo, Age UK, Burnham & Weston Energy CIC and the Pier Health Social Prescribing Team to offer advice on a wide range of topics, including:

- wellbeing
- employment issues

Calling all charities, community groups and CICs 📣

Have you ever found yourself aware that someone needs additional support, but not sure where to direct them?

Or had someone open up to you about debt, housing, benefits or another difficult situationand not known what to do next?

People often come to frontline staff and volunteers with problems that sit outside your organisation’s remit. Our free Advice First Aid training is designed to help you feel more confident recognising when someone may need specialist advice and how to connect them with the right support.

Just like first aid can save lives, timely advice can stop problems escalating before they reach crisis point.

Over the past year, Citizens Advice North Somerset has supported 150+ frontline staff and volunteers from over 30 organisations through this training, funded by The National Lottery Community Fund.

Our final free sessions are taking place this May and June, and spaces are still available.

If you work or volunteer with a charity, community group or CIC in North Somerset, we’d love you to join us.
