We are incredibly sad to announce that Home-Start North Somerset is closing in January.

Here is a statement from our trustees:

"It is with deep sadness and regret that we must inform you that Home-Start North Somerset is to close in the new year. An Extraordinary General Meeting was held on Friday 7 November when the members passed a resolution to dissolve the charity. This decision has not been made lightly. We have explored possible alternatives but none has proved viable.

Home Start North Somerset has been facing a very difficult situation due to the current challenging climate in the voluntary sector, difficulty in recruiting sufficient trustees and obtaining enough funding to deliver our services. After careful and thorough consideration of all possible options, the trustees have sadly concluded that despite the dedicated efforts of staff and trustees Home-Start North Somerset is no longer a sustainable organisation.

Our mission has always been to provide support and friendship to families in North Somerset, to help them through difficult times with the ultimate objective of giving their children the best possible start in life. We remain extremely proud of all the work we’ve done over the last 20 years in pursuit of this aim and know that the difference we have made will have lasting impact. We will ensure that our families, volunteers and staff are properly supported through this closure process to reduce any unnecessary anxiety and stress."

is here! And it has a simple message - crying is a normal part of a baby's development.

This year’s theme is about mental health and staying calm. And that applies to everyone – mums, dads, and carers.

Babies cry, you can cope 💜

Every mum deserves good mental health and the support & care they need during pregnancy, and after childbirth.

Yet Black mums experience unique challenges that contribute to higher rates of mental health issues and facing greater barriers to accessing mental health care.

It’s vital that their stories are heard and action is taken to tackle the mental health disparities Black mothers face. Yet too often, their experiences are overlooked and under addressed.

That's why we're supporting Black Maternal Mental Health Week
