We love this example of how INTEGRAL ALLIANCE Members World Renew and ZOA are working together with support from Canadian Food Grains Bank to make a difference for Internally Displaced People.
World Refugee Day (coming up on June 20) is a time to recognize the millions of people forced to leave their homes in search of safety. While many cross borders and become refugees, even more people remain within their own countries, known as Internally Displaced People (IDPs). They have fled the same dangers, like conflict or disaster, often facing ongoing uncertainty and limited support.
By the end of 2025, an estimated 82.2 million people were internally displaced - more than twice as many as just seven years ago.
Falta is one of them. After violent attacks reached her community, she and her family fled their home, leaving everything behind. They searched for safety in a new region, living in an informal camp with very little support.
Despite this, Falta chose to speak up and advocate for women’s voices, fairness, and accountability in her community.
Through the work of World Renew Canada and their partner ZOA Nigeria , programs are helping IDPs rebuild their lives through emergency food support, strengthening community leadership, and ensuring women like Falta have a voice in the decisions that shape their future.
Falta shares, “We were displaced, but we were not erased. Our voices matter.”
