Celebrating Gypsy, Roma and Traveller Communities Across Our Neighbourhoods

As we approach Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month (GRTHM) this June, One vision Registered Charity proudly joins partners across Hertfordshire and beyond in recognising and celebrating the histories, cultures, and contributions of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities.

This month is an important opportunity to raise awareness, challenge prejudice, and promote understanding, respect, and inclusion across our neighbourhoods and wider society.

At One Vision, we believe strong neighbourhoods are built when every community feels heard, valued, and included. As conversations continue nationally around Neighbourhood Health and community-based support, it is vital that communities who often face inequalities, discrimination, and barriers to services are not overlooked.

Health, wellbeing, inclusion, and belonging must go hand in hand. By working together with community organisations, faith groups, statutory partners, and local residents, we can help create safer, healthier, and more connected neighbourhoods for everyone.

There are many ways organisations and individuals can support GRTHM throughout June:

• Share awareness and educational resources
• Celebrate Gypsy, Roma and Traveller histories and achievements
• Encourage learning and conversations within organisations and communities
• Promote inclusion and accessibility within services
• Listen to lived experiences and community voices

Awareness creates understanding, and understanding helps break down barriers.

Thank you to GATE Herts for continuing to lead and support this important work across Hertfordshire.

One Vision Bringing Communities Together to STAND TOGETHER – WATFORD 💙🧡

Everyone is welcome to join us as our town comes together with one clear message:
There is no place for hatred in Watford.

Led by the Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor Peter Taylor - Mayor of Watfordame Helen HyDame Helen Hyde DBEes to champion the fight against hate and division, this will be a powerful moment of unity, dignity, and solidarity for our communities.

We are honoured to be joined by The Lord-Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, senior leadership teams from Hertfordshire Constabulary and Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue Service, faith leaders, community organisations, residents, families, and young people from across Hertfordshire.

At a time when communities across the country are facing growing tensions, Watford will stand together and show that we are united against antisemitism, Islamophobia, racism, and all forms of hatred.

One Vision is proud to be leading the way in bringing communities, faiths, statutory organisations, and local leaders together — because stronger communities are built through trust, relationships, and standing side by side.

Prostate Cancer Awareness at Watford Football Club

A football club.
A room full of men.
A conversation many still avoid having.

On Thursday 28th May, One vision Registered Charity alongside Macmillan Cancer Support and Watford Football Club, will be creating a safe and supportive space for men to openly discuss prostate health, awareness, early signs, and the importance of early intervention.

This is more than an event.
It is about breaking silence.
Breaking stigma.
And reminding people that prevention starts with conversation.

The most powerful health interventions often happen in places where people already feel connected, comfortable, and heard.

Communities are not hard to reach.
Communities are hard to reach without trust.

Faith. Community. Partnership. Humanity.

An evening that reflected the true strength of Hertfordshire’s diverse communities, people of different faiths, cultures, and backgrounds standing together with a shared commitment to inclusion, understanding, and service.

Moments like this remind us that real community cohesion is built through relationships, conversations, and trust. When faith leaders, public services, charities, and communities come together, we create safer, healthier, and more connected communities for everyone.

At One Vision, we remain committed to building bridges between communities and systems — ensuring every voice is heard and every community feels valued.

Today, members of the One Vision team, alongside Harjit Singh DL, spent time at the One Vision Food HUB to personally thank our amazing volunteers and drivers for their continued dedication and compassion towards the community.

What we continue to witness is the growing impact of the cost of living crisis across many households. More individuals and families are finding it difficult to access basic support, often facing challenges silently and with dignity. Behind every food parcel and meal delivery is a story, and behind every act of support is a volunteer willing to give their time to help others.

At One Vision, we remain committed to standing alongside our communities during difficult times. We are incredibly grateful to all our volunteers, drivers, donors, and supporters who continue to make this work possible through kindness, compassion, and humanity.

Proud that One Vision continues to deliver the Care for Carers Programme at Stanborough Park Centre in partnership with Hertfordshire County Council Adult Care Services.

Unpaid carers do so much for others, often quietly and without recognition. This programme is about creating trusted community spaces where carers feel supported, connected, and valued.

Strong partnerships create stronger communities.
