Four Workshops. One Message. Communities must be at the heart of health.

Today our CEO Enoch Kanagaraj and Chor of Trustees Harjit Singh had the privilege of delivering four workshops at the Better Care Fund (BCF) Conference on The Role of Faith in Health, representing the Hertfordshire Faith & Health Networking Board and One vision Registered Charity

The conversations reinforced something we have seen repeatedly across Hertfordshire: health begins in communities. Faith groups, community organisations, and trusted local networks often reach people long before they access formal health and care services.

We explored how faith communities can support the ambitions of Neighbourhood Health, improve prevention, tackle health inequalities, strengthen community insight, and help ensure services are designed around people rather than organisations.

My sincere thanks to Fiona Tearle , Hailey, and the entire Hertfordshire County Council Adult Care team for the invitation, partnership, and leadership in bringing together colleagues committed to improving outcomes for residents across Hertfordshire.

The future of health and care will be built through partnership, trust, and community leadership. If we want better outcomes, we must continue to work alongside the people and places that communities already trust.

Health begins in communities. Together, we can build healthier, stronger, and more connected neighbourhoods.

United in Solidarity with the Sikh Community

Today, Watford Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara and One vision Registered Charity welcomed national Sikh leader Dabinderjit Singh Sidhu OBE alongside interfaith leaders, community representatives, elected members, and public service leaders from across Hertfordshire to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Sikh community and send a clear message:

There is no place for hate, division, or intolerance in our society.

The gathering brought together people of different faiths, backgrounds, and cultures in a powerful demonstration of unity, respect, and community cohesion. Speakers including ENOCH Kanagaraj BEM DL Dame Helen Hyde, Pastor Ian Sweeney Trans-European Division of Seventh-day Adventists , Akhtar Zaman Cllr Asif Khan Cllr Watford Borough Council Chairman Cllr Sohail Bashir, and Chief Superintendent Matt Phillips Hertfordshire Constabulary Cllr Steve Watson, Vice Chair Hertfordshire County Council spoke passionately about the importance of standing together, protecting one another, and ensuring that hatred and division never define our communities.

The message throughout the afternoon was simple but powerful:

When one community is targeted, we all stand together. When one community hurts, we all support one another.

The event concluded with reflections from Harjit Singh DL and other community leaders, reminding us that compassion, understanding, and friendship will always be stronger than those who seek to divide us.

One Community. One Humanity. One Voice Against Hate.

Welcoming Alan Fisher to One Vision Charity

On behalf of the Trustees and the entire One Vision family, I am delighted to welcome Alan Fisher as a Trustee of One Vision Charity.

Alan brings a wealth of experience from a distinguished 38-year career in banking, alongside an outstanding record of voluntary service, education, governance, and community engagement. His commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, respect, and understanding through his work with Watford and District Synagogue, schools, and interfaith initiatives reflects the very values that One Vision stands for.

For many years, Alan has been a trusted voice in building bridges between communities, educating young people, supporting Holocaust awareness, and championing mutual respect. His dedication to public service and community cohesion will be a tremendous asset as we continue to strengthen our work across Hertfordshire and beyond.

I have had the privilege of working alongside Alan through various interfaith and community initiatives and have always admired his integrity, wisdom, and genuine commitment to serving others.

Please join me in giving Alan a very warm welcome to the One Vision Board of Trustees. I look forward to working together as we continue our mission of bringing people together, building stronger communities, and improving lives. Grateful to Learn and Connect at NHS ConfedExpo 2026

Today, our Chief Executive Officer, Enoch Kanagaraj BEM DL, and our Chair of Trustees, Harjit Singh DL, are attending NHS ConfedExpo 2026, meeting and learning from inspiring leaders and colleagues across the NHS, local government, academia, and the VCFSE sector.

The event provides a valuable opportunity to hear how organisations are working together to improve health outcomes, reduce inequalities, and place communities at the heart of health and care. These conversations reinforce the importance of partnership working, innovation, and community engagement in shaping the future of healthcare.

At One Vision, we remain committed to building bridges between communities and statutory services, ensuring that the voices of diverse communities are heard and valued. Every discussion reminds us that meaningful and lasting change is achieved when we work together with humility, respect, and a shared commitment to serving others.

Building Trust, Saving Lives: Raising Heart Failure Awareness in Our Communities

I am incredibly proud that One Vision Charity has been recognised by Health Innovation East for our work in increasing heart failure awareness among underserved and high-risk communities across Hertfordshire.

Working alongside faith leaders, community champions, volunteers and NHS partners, we delivered culturally sensitive education sessions, opportunistic screening for high blood pressure and atrial fibrillation (AF), and shared the important BEAT HF message:

❤️ B – Breathlessness
❤️ E – Exhaustion
❤️ A – Ankle swelling
❤️ T – Time to speak to your GP

Early diagnosis can make a significant difference to treatment, quality of life and long-term outcomes. Yet many people still present late, often because they are unaware of the symptoms or face barriers to accessing healthcare.

This project demonstrates what can be achieved when the NHS works alongside trusted community organisations. By meeting people where they are—in places of worship, community centres and familiar settings—we can build trust, reduce inequalities and support prevention before crisis occurs.

A huge thank you to the team at Health Innovation East, our volunteers, faith leaders, healthcare professionals and community members who made this possible.

The future of healthcare is not just in hospitals—it is in our communities.
