Celebrating Gypsy, Roma and Traveller Communities Across Our Neighbourhoods
As we approach Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month (GRTHM) this June, One vision Registered Charity proudly joins partners across Hertfordshire and beyond in recognising and celebrating the histories, cultures, and contributions of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities.
This month is an important opportunity to raise awareness, challenge prejudice, and promote understanding, respect, and inclusion across our neighbourhoods and wider society.
At One Vision, we believe strong neighbourhoods are built when every community feels heard, valued, and included. As conversations continue nationally around Neighbourhood Health and community-based support, it is vital that communities who often face inequalities, discrimination, and barriers to services are not overlooked.
Health, wellbeing, inclusion, and belonging must go hand in hand. By working together with community organisations, faith groups, statutory partners, and local residents, we can help create safer, healthier, and more connected neighbourhoods for everyone.
There are many ways organisations and individuals can support GRTHM throughout June:
• Share awareness and educational resources
• Celebrate Gypsy, Roma and Traveller histories and achievements
• Encourage learning and conversations within organisations and communities
• Promote inclusion and accessibility within services
• Listen to lived experiences and community voices
Awareness creates understanding, and understanding helps break down barriers.
Thank you to GATE Herts for continuing to lead and support this important work across Hertfordshire.
