Meet the Insects as Food & Feed SIG πŸ¦—

This is the RES Special Interest Group working on much of what you've seen in the news this month. It brings together:

πŸ”¬ Scientists studying insect nutrition, welfare and farming systems
🌾 Farmers and food technologists building the UK sector
πŸ‘©β€βš–οΈ Lawyers working on the regulatory pathway

The SIG runs an annual Insects as Food and Feed Conference - this year on 18–19 November in Central London - and is open to RES members and non-members alike.

If you're working in or near this space, or you simply want to learn from the people who are, this is the event for you:

The Natural History Museum, London very kindly played host to the APPG Bees, Pollinators and Invertebrates last week, giving parliamentarians a tour of entomological collections at the Museum.

We were fascinated by the breadth of NHM's collections of wasps, bees, moths true flies; thanks in particular to Erica McAlister and John Jackson for organising the tour.

As we approach Royal Entomological Society (22 - 28 June), these collections remind us of the need to train the next generation of entomologists and to expand UK insect science.
