Final Term = Packed with Opportunities! ๐ŸŒŸ
We can't believe the final term of the year is here โ€“ but we're definitely not slowing down!

Our Engage Alternative Provision programme has so much planned to keep our young people engaged, building skills, and making the most of every moment. Here's a look at what's coming up:
๐ŸŽช Summer Fayre (8th July) - celebrating together and showcasing everything our young people have been working on - we'd love to see you there!
๐Ÿฅ— Healthy Eating Week - welcoming a nutritionist to explore food, wellbeing and simple ways to make positive choices
๐Ÿฝ๏ธ Local business visit - stepping into a real working restaurant and hearing honestly about the highs and the challenges of the industry
๐Ÿ”ง REME Museum trip โ€“ discovering how engineering skills play a vital role in keeping the British Army up and running
๐ŸŒŠ Lake 86 adventure โ€“ getting outdoors for kayaking, paddleboarding and a well-earned end-of-year highlight!
Weโ€™re really looking forward to another positive and productive term ahead, with plenty more opportunities for our young people to learn, develop and succeed.

A million young people are NEET โ€“ and we want to help ๐Ÿ’š
The statistics in the recent government report are stark: over a a million 16-24 year olds in the UK are not in education, employment or training. But behind those numbers are real young people facing real challenges - mental health struggles, confidence issues, skill gaps, and a system that hasn't always supported them.
The good news? Support makes a difference.

At The Platform Project, we've created two programmes to help young people aged 16-24 at different stages of their employment journey:
โœจAspire Post 16 (Ages 16-19)
A transition programme for young people struggling in mainstream education or who are NEET. We prepare them for their next steps through experiential learning with a range of career-based and enterprise practical projects, alongside personalised support. Spaces available for September.
โœจBOOST: Job Club (Ages 18-24)
A free 12-week programme that teaches job-hunting skills and gives hands-on support to land opportunities. From CV writing to interview prep to real job applications - we're with you every step. 89% success rate. Next programme starts in September - referrals opening soon!

Building Trust Through Shared Moments ๐Ÿดโœจ
One of the best parts of Connect Therapeutic Mentoring is when a young person chooses to share their world with us - the places that matter to them, the things that bring them joy.

During a recent session, one young person wanted to introduce their mentor to something special: the horses she visits regularly with her friends. It was a short walk from home, and when we arrived, she proudly introduced each one - including Sabrina, pictured here!

These moments matter. They're about building trust, showing genuine interest in what makes a young person happy, and creating space for them to feel confident and valued. This young person knows she can visit the horses anytime (with the owner's permission), and now she had the chance to share that part of her life with her mentor too.

This is Connect in action โ€“ meeting young people where they are, supporting their interests, and building relationships that help them thrive.

About Connect Therapeutic Mentoring:
Connect supports young people aged 5-18+ with social, emotional and mental health needs through tailored one-to-one sessions with specialist mentors. Every activity is designed around the young person's interests and what matters to them - creating a safe space to build confidence, connection and positive relationships.

Looking for tutoring that truly fits? Discover does. ๐Ÿ“š
If a young person you're working with is losing confidence, or just not thriving in a traditional classroom - it might be time to consider a different approach.

Our Discover Personalised Tutoring programme is designed for young people who need support that goes beyond what mainstream education can offer. And the difference it makes is real.

What our young people achieve:
โœ… Catching up on missed learning
โœ… Building genuine confidence in Maths and English
โœ… Preparing successfully for Functional Skills and GCSE exams
โœ… Discovering that learning CAN feel achievable
โœ… Developing resilience and a positive attitude towards education

How it works:
Every session is tailored to the individual. We meet young people where they are - not where they "should be" - and work at their pace with experienced tutors who genuinely understand their needs.
From creative activities that make learning stick, to focused exam prep, to building the foundations they've missed - we make it personal, we make it relevant, and we make it work.

Join us for a term and see how Discover Personalised Tutoring can support your young person. With spaces available next term, itโ€™s a flexible way to experience our tailored approach before committing longer-term.

Getting Hands-On Under the Bonnet! ๐Ÿ”ง๐Ÿš—
Our young people attending Engage Alternative Provision have been building their confidence and skills by learning the basics of mechanics - from identifying parts to carrying out simple checks and repairs. Activities like this not only develop practical, transferable skills but also boost independence and self-belief. We love seeing young people thrive in a hands-on environment - real learning that builds both skills and confidence. ๐Ÿ‘

Inspiring Careers & Football Skills! โšฝโœจ
What a fantastic session we had this recently when we welcomed the lovely Libby from Swindon Town in the Community to The Platform Project!
Libby, who plays for Swindon Town's Women's Team, spoke to our young people about the wide range of career opportunities in sport beyond just playing. It was a really inspiring session that opened up lots of ideas for the future.
Then we pushed the furniture aside, got the footballs out, and Libby led a fantastic skills workshop. The energy, enthusiasm and smiles said it all - our young people absolutely loved it! โšฝ
Sessions like these help our young people see what's possible and connect their interests to real career pathways.
Huge thanks to Libby and Swindon Town in the Community for an amazing morning! ๐Ÿ™Œ

Real-World Learning in Action! ๐Ÿ“ฐโœจ
One of our Discover students has been exploring the topic of 'fake news'. With recent national and global events, plus local elections taking place recently, the role of the media is more relevant than ever.

As part of Functional Skills English, they've been learning how to spot bias and misinformation, building towards an upcoming essay on how fake news affects readers and shapes opinions.
This is exactly what learning should look like โ€“ engaging with the world around us and developing critical thinking skills that matter beyond the classroom!
