Wanborough Show

Wanborough Show Wanborough Show is a small country show based at the village of Wanborough at the foot of the downs just outside Swindon.

Wanborough Show is a small country show. It is a one day event, bigger than a village fete, but small enough not to lose its intimacy, unlike some of the larger events in the area. Located in the village of Wanborough just 1.5 miles from J15 of the M4, 5 miles from the centre of Swindon and amid a cluster of villages on the edge of the Wiltshire downs, it is easily accessible for many people. The

Show is organised by a committee of volunteers on a 'not-for-profit' basis. All money raised is used to cover the costs of staging the event. Any surplus funds at the end of the year are distributed to local organisations and worthy causes.

๐ŸŽ’ Backpacks Needed๐ŸŽ’
Appeal from Big Breakfast Plus Swindon:

Backpacks are always one of our most requested items for vulnerable adults in the Swindon community.

For those experiencing homelessness or sofa surfing, a backpack is more than just a bag โ€” itโ€™s a way to keep personal belongings safe, organised, and close at all times. It can make a real difference when someone is navigating an already challenging situation.

If you have a backpack in good condition tucked away at home, please consider donating it. Something you no longer need could be essential to someone else in our community.

If you have any spare rucksacks to donate you can drop them off this weekend at Wanborough scarecrow trail refreshments stands or see other drop off details below:

๐Ÿ“ Drop-offs: Every morning between 7:30am โ€“ 9:00am
๐Ÿ“ Location: The Pilgrim Centre, Regent Circus, SN1 1PX

***EQUESTRIAN KNOWLEDGE AN ADVANTAGE***

A while ago we put out a plea for volunteers to help get our popular Spring Horse Show back on track. There are several tasks we need help with, particularly in the run up to the event, some that would benefit having a degree of equestrian knowledge or an interest in horses. No need to attend meetings or commit to any long term involvement. Just the willingness to give up a few hours of your time. We cannot implement this in time for this year, but in order to ensure that the 2027 show goes ahead we need to get plans in place and take action now.

Firstly, we need input on which classes to include in our programme which has remained fairly static and would benefit from a refresh. From here we can decide which organisations, if any, to afiliate with.

Secondly, once the schedule has been agreed,we need someone to book our judges and stewards. We have the details of people we have used in the past as well as organisations such as British Dressage and The Showing Judge who publish lists of qualified judges.

Thirdly, we need someone to source any additional resources such as jumps, plus agree with a veterinary practice and farrier that would be available in an emergency. This would include co-ordinating the delivery and collection of any resourses during the set up and set down period.

Lastly, we need someone to source and co-ordinate a team of volunteers to help on the day with tasks such as ring maintenance and runner duties.

Please comment or message us if interested or email us at [email protected]

***NO EQUESTRIAN KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED***

A while ago we put out a plea for volunteers to help get our popular Spring Horse Show back on track. There are several tasks we need help with, particularly in the run up to the event, that don't actually need any equine knowledge. No need to attend meetings or commit to any long term involvement. Just the willingness to give up a few hours of your time. We cannot implement this in time for this year, but in order to ensure that the 2027 show goes ahead we need to get plans in place and take action now.

Firstly, we need someone to take responsibility for contacting past trophy winners and arranging for them to return our perpetual trophies in time for the next show. You would also need to order any rosettes and plaques from our supplier.

Secondly, we need someone to reach out to local businesses with a view to them placing an advert in the programme. We have a list of past advertisers to help you get started and can help with templates of letters and emails that have worked well in the past.

Thirdly, we need someone to seek out new sponsors. Sponsorship comes in many forms from individuals wanting to cover the costs of a single class in memory of a loved one to businesses looking to sponsor a whole ring. Again, we have lists of past sponsors and templates we have used before.

Lastly, we need someone to manage advertising the show in as many places as possible. This is usually done predominantly through Facebook groups that are either horse, dog or event related.

A while back we put out a plea for help with running the May Horse Show, not just on the day, but with the planning and various other tasks in the run up. Many of you expressed an interest and we would now like to harness this energy and move the event forward. Initially we are looking for anyone that would like to review the schedule with us so we can ensure it reflects those classes that are most popular, with something for everyone. Message us please rather than just comment as Facebook doesn't always let us contact people we aren't "friends" with.
