Zero Waste Scotland

Zero Waste Scotland www.zerowastescotland.org.uk This is known as a circular economy and it’s the right choice if we want to create a more equal and just society for all.

Rewiring the economy ⚡

We know the biggest cause of climate change is overconsumption – where society puts too much pressure on earth’s finite resources through our “take, make, waste” economic model. Zero Waste Scotland works with government, business, and communities to rewire the economy from our current model to one where we make the most of the materials we have. We’re Scotland’s circular ec

onomy public body. Since 2014, our work has helped more people understand that the answer to the climate emergency is to consume less. Find out more in our 2024-2030 corporate plan: https://zws.scot/CorporatePlan

Every major event leaves a legacy. The question is, what kind?

Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games have shown how circular principles can help deliver an event that uses fewer new resources, creates less waste, and makes use of the valuable infrastructure already available - all while delivering value.

It's good for the planet, but it's also good for our common wealth.

That's the circular economy.

Glasgow 2026’s vehicle fleet is hired and features the most electric and hybrid vehicles in the Commonwealth Games' history.

That’s the circular economy - and that's why we’re proud to support the games' journey to circularity.
