It's mid-October and the nights are fair drawing in, as we say here in Scotland. It's not long until the clocks go back and the evenings get darker ... providing epic opportunities for star gazing! The winter months are a fantastic time to get out there and explore the Scottish night sky - you might even spot some nocturnal wildlife too!

A very warm welcome to our new member Voxter Outdoor Centre 😊

A fantastic group adventure base in Northmavine, Shetland, Voxter Outdoor Centre is managed by Voxter Centre Trust, a registered Scottish charity. Income from group stays helps to subsidise visits by school and youth groups, thereby helping the younger generations enjoy time in Shetland's outdoors. A historic former country house, the centre offers simple, flexible group accommodation for groups of up to 22 guests. With exclusive use of the centre, including kitchen, dining room and sitting room, groups have plenty of space for self-catering, talks, activities or relaxing together after a day outdoors exploring its spectacular surroundings. Voxter is particularly well-suited to groups and gatherings, creative activities and outdoor adventures.

Very proud of this morning’s Cheese and Marmite sourdough effort!
Went down very well with the guests for breakfast. So good fresh from the oven!

I’m sure there will be some marmite lovers within the group on our Highland Winter Yarn Retreat. Good to have this recipe in the bag.

Wonderful news that our member Aquila Wildlife & Nature's fantastic project Nature Mingle has been shortlisted in the RSPB Nature of Scotland Awards 2026 for the Health & Wellbeing award - well done 👏😊

We are absolutely buzzing that Nature Mingle has been shortlisted for an RSPB Nature of Scotland Award! 🌿💚

There are so many fantastic people and brilliant projects doing great things for nature across Scotland, and we feel genuinely privileged just to be in the same room as them.

For us, being shortlisted is also a wonderful opportunity to shout about all the fantastic people who have been involved in Nature Mingle and helped make the project what it is.

So many people have shared their time, knowledge, skills and enthusiasm with us – leading activities, supporting events, helping behind the scenes and, of course, coming along to Mingle and sharing in that connection with nature and with each other. Nature Mingle simply wouldn't be what it is without you.

We really hope that we can secure more funding to keep the project going and build on what we have started. There is so much more that we would love to do.

But whatever happens next, we are incredibly proud of what Nature Mingle has achieved so far – and hugely grateful to everyone who has been part of the journey.

For now, we're going to enjoy being shortlisted and celebrate being amongst so many inspiring people doing brilliant things for nature. 🌱
