Some progressive pictures of a section on the Blairlogie path works so far.

By no means is this multi phased work complete, but the progress made so far is fantastic.

The next phase of re-establishing the Blairlogie / Dumyat path got underway with the help and support of Scottish Building Society and four fantastic volunteers from their organisation for the day.

OTA volunteer dig leaders ran and lead things with support from the future forest company ranger. Tasks focused on widening and improving the trail tread by clearing vegatation, bench cutting and also improving drainage and water management.

An impressive amount of work carried by the team and we are grateful for their time and efforts.

How ever you access the outdoors. Make sure you get your views, opinions and voice heard.

Access rights are so important in Scotland and we need more of them, not less.

The next 48 to 72 hours of storm Austen and Boelo will be very wet and windy.

Many trails will be highly susceptible to damage via wind blow, water, and riding.

Consider where, what and how you ride this weekend and into the week after the deluge of water and strong winds that has already begun.

Reopening and restoring the Blairlogie path/ trail up and down Dumyat began today.

Working in collaboration with the future forest company, their land and site manager and ranger to get in with brushcutters and clear, multiple years of unmanaged vegitation growth and encroachment over the trail tread and trail corridor.

This is a multi-phased plan to restore this trail and it is great to have made a start.

The second ever William Wallace Running Festival took place today, seeing hundreds of runners take part in different distances.

Ochil Trail Association supported this event last year with volunteers marshalling in the most remote and technical sections of the 50km and 70km Ultra distances. And to be involved again this year was a must. Supporting local events that showcase the area and the amazing variety of trails and uses to access the outdoors is important, it brings the commutity together and really highlights how good this area is for walking, running and riding.

Massive well done to all runners in all events. There will be plenty of tired and sore legs tomorrow!!
