A powerful original poem celebrating the dedication, compassion and impact of volunteers was unveiled at the Inspire Volunteering Awards 2026.

Commissioned by SVE and written by Stirling-based creative Kevin P. Gilday Normal/Special was performed live during the ceremony, offering a moving tribute to volunteers across Stirlingshire.

The poem reflected on how everyday acts of kindness and commitment create meaningful change in communities. It reminded us that while volunteers may see their actions as ordinary, together they achieve something truly extraordinary.

The performance was a highlight of the evening, which brought together volunteers, community groups and supporters from across the region to celebrate outstanding contributions to local life.

Kevin said

'It was my absolute privilege to create a new piece celebrating the wonderful volunteers of Stirlingshire. I was really inspired by their dedication and wanted to capture that commitment in the poem, highlighting their - often silent - contributions to the wellbeing of our communities.'

We enjoyed our visit to the Words of Welcome exhibition today, which we are proud to have contributed to through a letter of support.

Now open at Forth Valley Royal Hospital, the exhibition is a powerful collaboration between Central Scotland Regional Equality Council NHS Forth Valley and Artlink Central, bringing together artwork, creative responses, and letters from communities across Clackmannanshire, Falkirk, and Stirling.

Exploring themes of welcome, inclusion, belonging, and courage, and timed to coincide with Refugee Week, the exhibition reflects the strength of partnership and the importance of community voice across Central Scotland.

If you are in the area, it is well worth a visit. Take time to experience the creativity, care, and messages shared throughout the display.

✨ That’s a wrap on Volunteers’ Week 2026! ✨

We’ve loved being out and about this week visiting incredible organisations and joining in their volunteer celebrations, alongside hosting our Inspire Volunteering Awards. It’s been inspiring to meet so many dedicated volunteers and staff who give their time, energy and passion to support their communities 💙

A huge thank you to everyone who welcomed us along – and to all the volunteers making a difference every single day. Special thanks to Volunteer Scotland, Inspiring Communities SCIO and Fallin Community Voice for having us at your events👏

Volunteers Week may be over - but we'll be continuing to share our appreciation for our local volunteers throughout the coming weeks (and beyond!). Keep an eye on our socials for more coverage from our awards and maybe some special announcements...

As Volunteers’ Week comes to a close, we want to take a moment to say a huge thank you to all the volunteers who make a difference across our communities every day.

Throughout the week, we have celebrated the incredible contribution of volunteers, highlighted inspiring stories, and recognised the positive impact that volunteering has on individuals, organisations and communities.

We were also delighted to celebrate our volunteers at the Inspire Volunteering Awards on Wednesday, recognising the dedication, commitment, and achievements of volunteers from across Stirlingshire. Congratulations to all our nominees, finalists and winners, and thank you to everyone who took part in making the event such a success.

Volunteers are at the heart of so much that happens in our communities, and we are grateful for the time, skills and passion they give.

Thank you for helping to make Volunteers’ Week 2026 such a memorable celebration. 💜

Something Old Something New (SOSN) a much-loved charity shop in Stirling, has grown from humble beginnings into a vibrant, community-focused organisation at the heart of the Thistles Shopping Centre, dedicated to raising funds for Parkinson’s research in Scotland.

Its team of volunteers work across the shop including crafts specialists, stock management, and visual merchandising. We collected stories from some of the volunteers at SOSN about why they started volunteering, and its positive impact on their lives and in fostering community.

This Volunteers’ Week, Cowie Rural Action Group is celebrating the volunteers who help keep their community connected.

From supporting the community centre takeover to running daily groups for people of all ages, volunteers are creating spaces where people can come together, build friendships and feel part of something bigger.

CRAG believes volunteering is about supporting one another through everyday life and creating a true sense of community.

🗨️Preparing volunteers without considering how their journey will end is like learning how to start a train without knowing how to stop it.🗨️

As we celebrate Volunteers’ Week, our Development and Engagement Coordinator, Tracy Duff, reflects on a part of volunteering that is often overlooked, how we say goodbye.

In this new blog, Tracy explores why ethical volunteer endings matter, the emotional impact of abrupt endings, and how organisations can create more thoughtful, respectful transitions for volunteers.

Because every volunteer deserves an ending that reflects the value of what they have given.
