Swale Community and Voluntary Services Swale CVS offers support to local charities, voluntary organisations, community groups and local volunteers.

Swale Community and Voluntary Services (SCVS) is recognised as a high quality, leading support and development organisation providing a variety of services for the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS), local people, the public and private sectors across the Borough of Swale and in partnership with other like minded bodies across Kent. SCVS encourages, promotes and facilitates regular volunteering

and engagement in local
communities, supporting local people to help themselves and each other. Volunteers are vital to any community and we actively advocate innovation and opportunities for all. Our dedicated team of staff and volunteers are proud to provide core services of a council for voluntary service (CVS) and Volunteer Centre (VC). We also share expertise and experiences in areas such as project management, training,
consultancy and community engagement, facilities and services on behalf of the voluntary, public and private sectors.

**FREE TRAINING COURSES COMING SOON**
We are holding Food Safety, First Aid and Health & Safety training courses in the Autumn/Winter terms.

Open to those age 19+, who live in Swale, and are on a low income, job-seeking, or volunteering. Photo ID will be required for all three courses. Facilitated by Response Training, part of Kent Adult Education.

**VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY - SITTINGBOURNE**

Volunteer Stewards are required for a large free community music event with a mental health awareness theme at Milton Creek Country Park in Milton Regis, Sittingbourne, on Saturday, 10th October, 12noon-5pm.

This event will be free entry and strictly no alcohol. The theme is mental health and supporting well-being, with a music DJ and stalls/activities from local mental health charities.

Ideally, approximately 10-20 volunteers are needed to:

- Monitor entry points (help count and manage flow)
- Be friendly and helpful to attendees
- Help keep the event safe and respectful
- Promote mental health charity information

All roles are simple, supervised and flexible.

Benefits of volunteering at this event:

- Support mental health awareness in Swale
- Be part of a big positive community music event
- Meet new people — fun team atmosphere

**VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY - SITTINGBOURNE & QUEENBOROUGH**

Coram Beanstalk work with schools and parents to help children grow a love for reading.

With children returning to school this week, they are recruiting volunteer Reading Helpers for primary schools in Queenborough and Sittingbourne. You would need to live within a 5 mile radius of the school, and commit to at least one afternoon a week for a whole year during term-time. You need to be good with children and share a love of books. Ongoing training and support will be provided.

**THE SHEPPEY PRIZE ART COMPETITION**

There are three categories: Land, Sea and Air. There are two age groups: seniors aged 18 and over and juniors aged 11 to 17. Entries close in May 2027 which will allow artists to portray the Island through all four seasons.

The winning paintings and drawings will go on show at IslandWorks at the Sheerness Dockyard church at the end of next June 2027 as part of the Festival of Sheppey and then appear in a second exhibition at the Kent County Show in July.

All work must be two-dimensional and no larger than A2.
