Another day at coffee morning at Diversity house. Come in every Monday to participate at our free and welcoming space.

A little colour and time together at Diversity House.

Today’s Coffee Morning brought us around the table for colouring, a cuppa and conversation. From colourful flowers to pictures carrying messages of peace and gratitude, everyone added their own creative touch.

Our Monday mornings offer an opportunity to meet others, get involved in an activity and spend time in good company.

On 14th of October, Dr Lehef Zina had the honour of representing Diversity House at Fulston Manor School's Year 11 mock interviews in Sittingbourne, interviewing more than 25 students as they explored their aspirations and prepared for future opportunities.

Dr Zina left feeling encouraged by the young people she met. Many spoke with remarkable clarity about their interests, strengths and ambitions. Their thoughtful answers, confident communication and engagement throughout the interviews showed how seriously they were approaching their futures.
What was outstanding is how students communicated their sense of identity: who they are, what matters to them and who they hope to become. Their tone, attentive listening and body language added depth to the words they chose.

Dr Zina reported that: “one student’s determination to be herself in a future interview stayed with me. There was something powerful in that recognition that professionalism can sit alongside authenticity. I saw moments of self-awareness and emotional maturity that deserve to be recognised and encouraged. Another student spoke about her interest in design and was already turning that interest into practice by creating clothes at home. It was a lovely example of ambition taking shape through curiosity, creativity and initiative. These conversations reminded me that careers education also means helping young people recognise the value of what they already do. A creative hobby, a personal responsibility or an independent project can give them meaningful examples of their skills, commitment and potential”.

This engagement reflects Diversity House’s longstanding commitment to working with schools to empower young people, broaden their opportunities and support their preparation for working life.

Thank you to Fulston Manor School for welcoming us, and to the students for sharing their ambitions so openly.
