When we think of domestic abuse, we often picture physical violence. But abuse doesn’t always leave visible marks.

It can look like constant criticism, controlling behaviour, isolation, threats, or being made to feel afraid in your own relationship.

Sometimes, the signs are subtle. They can develop gradually, making it difficult to recognise what’s happening, especially when the person causing harm is someone you love.

This Domestic Abuse Awareness Month, we’re shining a light on the warning signs that can too often go unnoticed.

💛 Abuse is never your fault. The responsibility always lies with the person choosing to abuse.

💜 A huge thank you to Apex Contractors for their incredible support of SATEDA.

Their team recently raised an amazing £2,500 for our Community Clothing Hub, helping to keep this vital service running for months to come.

They also donated a phenomenal 314.4kg of clothing to the SATEDA Hub. That's more than two months' worth of our average clothing donations, arriving in a single delivery.

Many of the items donated were winter coats as part of our Winter Warm Wardrobe drive, helping keep local women and children warm this winter. Our Community Clothing Service supports women and children experiencing hardship, including many who are rebuilding their lives after domestic abuse, ensuring they can access essential clothing with dignity when they need it most.

From raising vital funds to filling our Community Clothing Hub with much-needed donations, Apex Contractors have made an extraordinary contribution. Thank you to everyone involved for your generosity, enthusiasm and community spirit. We are so grateful for your support. 💜

As temperatures begin to drop, we're collecting good-quality winter clothing to help women and children aged 4+ in our community stay warm this winter.

Priority items needed:

❄️ Jumpers & cardigans
❄️ Thermal clothing & thermal layers
❄️ Trousers & leggings
❄️ New, packaged underwear
❄️ New bras
❄️ New thick socks
❄️ Pyjamas & onesies

Please ensure all donated items are clean, in good condition, and ready to wear.
Unfortunately, we cannot accept damaged or stained clothing, broken footwear or used underwear and socks.

We're delighted to have received further funding from The Access to Justice Foundation / Ministry of Justice to support SATEDA's Court Services.

This funding will help us improve access to legal support for women facing family court alone, ensuring they can access vital support during what can be an incredibly difficult and overwhelming time.

Our CEO, Carey Philpott, said:

"Each year, we support over 800 women in Kent and Medway who would otherwise face traumatic and life-changing family court proceedings entirely alone.

Demand for our services continues to grow year on year, and this funding will enable us to strengthen our support, enhance our services and reach more women who need us."
