These words were shared directly with the support worker who stood alongside this woman through some of the darkest moments of her life.

From the first conversation, through safety planning, advocacy and practical support, to recovery and rebuilding life after abuse, our team is there every step of the way. At SATEDA, we believe support shouldn't end when the immediate crisis is over. We provide a full journey of support, helping women and children stay safe, regain control, heal from trauma and move forward with hope.

To our incredible support workers: thank you for the life-changing work you do every day. 💜

And to anyone reading this who may be experiencing domestic abuse: you are not alone. There is support available, and there is a way forward.

🌟 We're recruiting: Service Manager (Children & Young People) 🌟

Every child deserves to feel safe, valued and able to thrive. Across Kent and Medway, around 24,000 children are growing up in households affected by domestic abuse.

We're looking for a creative and engaging manager to help shape the future of our Children & Young People's services and make a lasting difference to young lives.

This is an exciting opportunity to manage a growing team, develop innovative trauma-informed programmes, amplify the voices of children and young people, and help break the cycle of abuse through recovery, resilience and early intervention.

Thanks to support from The National Lottery Community Fund, we're continuing to invest in and develop our Children & Young People's services across Kent and Maidstone.

If you're passionate about creating stronger outcomes for children and young people and want to help build a flagship service that changes lives, we'd love to hear from you.

For some women, the hardest part begins after the final whistle.

Reported domestic abuse incidents increase by 38% when England lose a World Cup match, and by 26% even when they win or draw.

Domestic abuse is not caused by football. Responsibility always lies with the person choosing to abuse.

When more women need support, we need to be ready.

💛 Loneliness Awareness Week reminds us that loneliness isn't always about being physically alone.

For many people affected by domestic abuse, isolation can be a significant part of their experience. Abuse can leave people feeling disconnected from friends, family, colleagues and their community, making it harder to reach out for support.

At SATEDA, we work with women across Kent, Swale and Maidstone to help rebuild safety, confidence and connection, because nobody should have to face difficult experiences alone.

This Friday, 19 June, we'll be joining the Chatty Table in Faversham Market Place from 10.00am–12.15pm. The event brings together local organisations and community support services, offering a welcoming space to chat, connect and find information about support available in the area.

💬 Sometimes a conversation can be the first step towards feeling less isolated.

📱Football conversations are already filling our phones.

But for some women, major tournaments can be a time of increased fear and risk.

When England play, reported domestic abuse incidents rise by 26% - increasing to 38% following a loss.

One message checking in could matter more than you realise.

If you're worried about someone, don't ignore that feeling. A simple message can remind someone they're not alone.

💜 This Volunteers’ Week, we’re celebrating the incredible people who give their time, skills and compassion to support SATEDA.

From assisting with court support, to helping run groups, sorting and distributing community clothing, making wellbeing calls, and helping us reach more women and children across Kent, Swale and Maidstone, our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do.

Over the past year, our volunteers have:

✨ Given 2,486 hours of their time

✨ Sent 1,396 letters to women in prison through Project Hope

✨ Sorted and distributed 4,781kg of clothing to support women and children. That’s nearly 5 tonnes of practical support reaching women and children when they need it most.

Every hour volunteered helps us support women and children to escape abuse, rebuild their lives and move towards safer, healthier futures.

To every one of our volunteers, thank you. Your kindness, dedication and belief in our mission make a life-changing difference every day.

Together, we’re creating safer lives and communities. 💜

A huge thank you to our amazing fundraisers this May 💜

From skydives to triathlons, your support helps us continue providing specialist support to women and children affected by domestic abuse across Kent.

This month, we’re celebrating the incredible efforts of:
💜 Maylr’s team, who raised an amazing £2,897 for SATEDA
💜 Vicky, who completed her very first triathlon and raised an incredible £1,089

As Maylr shared:
“SATEDA’s work is life-changing. They help women break free from the cycle of abuse, offering specialist support, education, advocacy, and prevention programmes.”

And from Vicky:
“A hugely worthy cause, SATEDA is a specialist domestic abuse charity supporting women and children in Swale, Maidstone and Kent.”

Thank you for helping raise awareness and support safer, happier futures for women and children 💜

Thinking about taking on a challenge or fundraiser this year? We’d love for you to support SATEDA.

Yesterday we held our first Tennis Family Fun Day in Maidstone, and what a fantastic day it was!

Thanks to funding from Kent Tennis, we are able to offer these Half-Term Tennis sessions to SATEDA families. They create opportunities for families to come together, try something new, and enjoy time in a fun and supportive environment led by experienced coaches.

At SATEDA, opportunities like this are about so much more than sport. They create safe spaces where families can connect with others who may share similar experiences, build supportive relationships, and take part in activities that contribute positively to health and wellbeing for both adults and children.

Roll on the next session, and hopefully with slightly cooler weather! 💜🎾
