How many artists does it take to hang up a scarecrow? 😂

Our EBS scarecrow has taken her place just in time for the Creative Community Weekend, but the loveliest part is who helped bring her to life. She’s been made with WAG, the artsforhealthmpft Wellbeing Art Group, who meet here every Thursday afternoon.

Led by and , WAG offers a supportive and therapeutic space for people to make art, connect with others and spend a couple of hours being creative in a calm, welcoming environment 🙌

Created in the spirit of the Belle Vue Arts Festival , our scarecrow will be keeping watch over the studios this weekend as resident artists open their doors, workshops take place, food is served by Scran Street Food , music plays and the building fills with all the lovely chaos of a creative weekend!

A huge thank you to everyone in WAG who helped make her, and to Jean and Jackie for everything they do to make the group such a special part of EBS 💛

Come and have a creative afternoon with us this Saturday 🙌

As part of the EBS Creative Community Weekend, our lovely is running her ‘Imaginative Mixed Media Collage Workshop’ from the studios.

Caris is a mixed media collage artist, experienced tutor and resident here at the studios, known for her bold, layered work full of theatre, storytelling and imagination ❤️ This workshop is a chance to get stuck in, play around and make something unexpected. No experience needed, and all materials are provided.

Get ready for a packed weekend at the studios next week! 💛

We’re opening up on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 June for a weekend of food, drink, live music, open studios, creative workshops and a chance to celebrate the people who make this building what it is!

will be back in the yard on both days with some of the best street food the country has to offer (I’ve been given insider info that the tiramisu will be back 😂), with joining us for drinks, and live music bringing everything together 🙌

Inside the building our resident artists and creatives will be opening their doors, selling work, sharing what they do, and giving people a proper look at life inside English Bridge Studios.

As part of the wider Belle Vue Arts Festival celebrations, we’ll also have some brilliant creative workshops across the two days.

On Saturday, our will be running
‘Imaginative Mixed Media Collage’, a playful workshop exploring texture, image, colour and composition. Perfect if you fancy making something a bit magical and expressive ❤️

There’ll also be ‘Fantasy Manga Characters’ with artist Eira Richards for younger creatives who want to draw their own manga characters and fantastical (I’m sure that’s a word) creatures 🐉

On Sunday our resident artists and will be leading ‘Stone Stories’, a free creative workshop inspired by folklore, geology, myths and the hidden stories held within stones. This one is suitable for all ages, so it’s a lovely one for families too! 🙌

It’s looking to be a good weekend weather-wise, which is great for us, but also other local businesses and events. With Open Gardens, art and scarecrow trail. have their end of year creative showcase ‘The Show’ on the Saturday which is open for the public. Not forgetting our neighbours - best hot chocolates around!

Come along, bring a friend or seven, grab some food, meet the artists and have a nose around 😄 it’s free entry. Sat 12-7pm.

Our next Arts Cafe is with artist Faye Lorente Shyllon on Tuesday 9 June, 7pm to 9pm.

Faye is a Shrewsbury based artist whose work explores memory, place, pattern and her Andalusian heritage through colour and semi abstract forms. For Arts Cafe, she’ll be sharing more about her creative practice, process and the ideas behind her work in a relaxed evening of conversation, creativity and connection.

You can also see Faye’s current exhibition, La Pared, at until Friday 12 June, so this is a lovely chance to hear more from the artist while her work is being shown in Shrewsbury 💛

Our next Arts Cafe welcomes artist Faye Lorente Shyllon to EBS.

Faye will be talking about her work and her exhibition La Pared, which opens with a Private View at the Gateway Gallery this Thursday.

The evening will also include a simple hands on activity inspired by Faye’s practice, with space to ask questions, chat and explore ideas in a relaxed setting.

Arts Cafe is open to artists, makers and really just anyone curious about creativity. Come along and join the conversation 😊

Another lovely Arts Cafe at English Bridge Studios.

This one felt a bit like an open studios, except instead of stepping into each other’s studios, we were stepping into each other’s sketchbooks.

Around 20 of us came together for an evening of workbooks, sketchbooks, notes, ideas, experiments, finished pieces, half formed thoughts, and all the things that usually stay tucked away.

Lots of chat about how differently everyone uses their sketchbooks, whether it’s for planning, playing, testing ideas, journaling, practising or just getting something out of your head and onto paper.

We’ve had such lovely feedback from the evening, so we’re hoping to make the sketchbook and workbook Arts Cafe a more regular thing. Your thoughts? 🤔

Our next Arts Cafe will be with on Tuesday 9 June, 7pm to 9pm. Faye’s exhibition, La Pared, will also be showing at with a private view on Thursday 28 May 5-7pm, and then continue on until the 12th June 😊
