📣 NEWS FROM HARNHAM COMMUNITY NETWORK
There’s quite a lot happening locally at the moment, so here are a few things you may be interested in — and where you can get involved.
🏛️ CIL FUNDING – SUPPORT OUR LOCAL PROJECTS
Salisbury City Council is currently considering applications for Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding. This is money paid by developers to help improve local infrastructure.
We believe that money generated by development in Harnham should be used to benefit Harnham.
Three local projects we know about have applied for funding, and they would really benefit from hearing that local people support them:
🌿 Broken Bridges Nature Reserve
The project would improve the footpath through the reserve, making it accessible to more people, including those using wheelchairs, mobility scooters and pushchairs.
Support forms are available in the Field View Room at Harnham Parish Hall during Coffee and Chat on Wednesday and Saturday mornings, 10am–12 noon.

⚽ Harnham Community Sports & Social Club
The Club is seeking funding to refurbish its toilets and changing rooms, which are increasingly needed as the Club is used for more community and sporting activities.

🏛️ Harnham Memorial Hall
The Hall is seeking funding towards the much-needed modernisation and refurbishment of the 160-year-old building, which is used extensively by local groups and organisations.

🛒 TESCO EXPRESS – NEW BRIDGE ROAD
Tesco has appealed against Wiltshire Council's refusal of planning permission for a Tesco Express on the Greyfisher site on New Bridge Road.
There will now be a public inquiry, and Salisbury City Council is looking for first-hand information from local residents to help inform its submission.
They are particularly interested in people's experiences of:
• Anti-social behaviour and crime
• Where people shop locally
• Walking and cycling
• Traffic and parking
• Other relevant experiences of the area

🌳 FREE TREES FOR SALISBURY'S 800TH ANNIVERSARY
Salisbury City Council is planning to plant 800 trees to mark the City's 800th anniversary.
Free trees are available to residents, community groups and schools, including rowan, bird cherry and oak saplings, as well as native hedging.
If you know of a suitable site, or belong to a group that would like to plant a tree, applications close on 1 October 2026, with trees due to be delivered in January 2027.

🎓 PROJECT MANAGEMENT FOR GRADUATES
We're hoping to run an eight-session introductory Project Management course for recent graduates in Harnham.
It will combine theory with practical exercises and is designed to help young graduates develop a useful skill, improve their confidence and enhance their CV.
