Last week and this has been a series of joyful celebrations at Morning Star Salisbury. First the installation and testing of our oversize park bench that some members of our community have been working on. Then a celebration in the park of the mural completion. We were so blessed by the lovely supportive Morning Star community of 40 or so folk who joined us for this in the park and are very much part of who we are. Then we celebrated our crop of overwintered onions now ready for harvesting. Finally today a small number of us visited Heavens Gate near Longleat. As I reflect on this week I can't help but think that sometimes, just sometimes we see glimpses of heaven on earth. "For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then we will see face to face. Now I know only in part; then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known." 1 Cor13:12.

I love how pallets used for transporting goods can be repurposed. In this case some of our community have creatively used pallets to make one very large bench This project has invited participation, teamwork, and skills development. This reflects an image of our purple settee in our sitting area inside the pavilion in the Former Bowls Club - also depicted on our mural. Eventually it will also be the same colour - purple. Remember Lydia? The settee inside our pavilion is what we sit on throughout the year to socialize, reflect, share our life journey, our pain and our joy. Many different people have sat on it in the last two and a half years since we moved into the Former Bowls Club as a charity. Our prayer is that each that have would know purpose, renewal and restoration. A full and beautiful life. Through and In Christ. Amen!

Mark and Jemma, two of our much loved helpers all ready for action at the St Thomas's Church coffee morning on Saturday. They gave up their valuable Saturday to come and help us out. Thank you! You helped make the day. Many thanks also to our other helpers too who chatted with guests making them feel welcome, set up, set down, made cakes, swept the floor and helped with tea and coffee payment, and also the folk at St Thomas Church for allowing us to host last weekend. It's great value tea and coffee in town on a Saturday morning and home made cake too!

Thanks to all those who have supported us prayerfully after our £2,500 water bill (usually £190!). It related to a leak on the Stratford Road in December. After a bit of a tussle, they have decided that not only do we not need to pay it but they owe us money! Thank you God ☺️

Empowering people to make informed decisions about what they eat by helping them to understand what their bodies need and why they need it. This is what we have sought to do with our food and nutrition course that has taken place over the last four weeks on a Monday. There were some epiphany moments when some of our community realised why they felt so tired a lot of the time. We strongly believe that whenever possible, we empower people to help themselves to make informed decisions through education, skills development and confidence building. Each week we had a nutritionist explaining what our bodies need, and why, followed by a practical meal making session. In the photo you can see a healthy, balanced tray bake with fresh, inexpensive ingredients. A piece of chicken and/or fish was added also to make sure there was sufficient protein. We all made our own together, then took it home to feast on for two days!!

We are starting to get some compost after our community having made 3 compost bins a year or so ago. Never thought I could get excited about compost!! We can now start to pave the way for a new season as we start to nourish our growing beds from all of their activity last year. And the daffodils we planted in November have just started to emerge. As we witness this, we also hope and pray for a new season in the lives of individuals in our community as we work with them. By our faith in the person of Jesus Christ we trust in a God who offers new beginnings. He is able to forgive, heal and restore our lives as we step together with others more towards the life we were always supposed to live.

Two momentous moments today and two photos...the first is one of our overwintered leaks grown by some of our life recovery community. We pulled one up today to see what they were like. The second was the first meal cooked for those at Morning Star today by two of our life recovery community. Lamb kebabs and feta salad. We celebrate both as successes and as steps forward!!

We are heading off out this evening to bless some of the folk in Salisbury who are the most vulnerable of our society. This is a privilege that has been given to us by Christmas box donations from the staff and customers of South Western Railway. In this we reach out to those who have found themselves homeless or impoverished due to often complex circumstances and in some way acknowledge their hardship and try to offer hope by Christmas gifts. We are often patently aware of our own limitations and are frustrated by this as we want to fix things for people but we can't. But we can offer a small blessing and say that we see you, and Jesus sees you. And we give thanks for those whose heart breaks for those who are hurting and who want to help in some way.
