One of our community wanted to create a recovery triangle on the former bowling green, with a circle around the outside. We happened to have three timbers left from the wood donated for our raised beds. This is the result. The triangle stands for recovery, unity and service. The circle represents the world or wholeness. The flower bed in the middle bursting with Cosmos is our own development showing a yield of beauty and colour. Perhaps this can be our lives under the right circumstances and conditions. The stones located on the sides of the triangle contain words that our community felt were important in our lives and have been carefully painted and added by different individuals. Words that bring colour, depth and meaning. Whilst we are not the AA, and in fact this is the AA logo, we believe these principles can be helpful to all of us on our life journey. It certainly reflects some of our values and ethos at Morning Star too. It gives me hope when I look at it on the green for those folk we share our lives with and for ourselves.

Need your life to be different? We have our next recovery course starting on Weds 5th August 2026 13.00 to 15.30 in the Former Bowls Club at Victoria Park. This is a supportive and friendly course for those who feel trapped in a harmful behaviour they are finding hard to change and sustain. We spend 12 weeks together as a small group discussing in-confidence, life recovery topics such as good sleep, what we eat, our relationships, triggers and responses, how to get balance, physical and mental self care and many other things. In this we learn about what has helped others and maybe discover some key changes we can make going forward. The main prerequisite for the course is that you want things to be different and are willing to have a go at making some changes, and are willing to support others too in the changes they wish to make. You would be made most welcome and we would hope we are able to support you to make some progress towards your goals. If this is you, please do get in touch with us at one of the email addresses or telephone numbers on the poster.

Last week and this has been a series of joyful celebrations at Morning Star Salisbury. First the installation and testing of our oversize park bench that some members of our community have been working on. Then a celebration in the park of the mural completion. We were so blessed by the lovely supportive Morning Star community of 40 or so folk who joined us for this in the park and are very much part of who we are. Then we celebrated our crop of overwintered onions now ready for harvesting. Finally today a small number of us visited Heavens Gate near Longleat. As I reflect on this week I can't help but think that sometimes, just sometimes we see glimpses of heaven on earth. "For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then we will see face to face. Now I know only in part; then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known." 1 Cor13:12.

I love how pallets used for transporting goods can be repurposed. In this case some of our community have creatively used pallets to make one very large bench This project has invited participation, teamwork, and skills development. This reflects an image of our purple settee in our sitting area inside the pavilion in the Former Bowls Club - also depicted on our mural. Eventually it will also be the same colour - purple. Remember Lydia? The settee inside our pavilion is what we sit on throughout the year to socialize, reflect, share our life journey, our pain and our joy. Many different people have sat on it in the last two and a half years since we moved into the Former Bowls Club as a charity. Our prayer is that each that have would know purpose, renewal and restoration. A full and beautiful life. Through and In Christ. Amen!
