ALABARÉ

ALABARÉ A national charity committed to breaking the cycle of homelessness by providing homes, restoring hearts and empowering minds.

We provide safe accommodation, restore confidence and encourage people to live fulfilled and independent lives. For 30 years Alabaré has been supporting thousands of people in need. We provide homes together with specialist support and encouragement enabling them to gain the independence they need to move on with their lives. Within our homes and services, we work with people who are homeless and

those at risk of becoming homeless, veterans, young people, and people with learning disabilities and mental health issues. We believe that through care, compassion, generosity and respect we can help others overcome barriers and lead happy, fulfilling lives. As part of our long term supported homes across England and Wales we also run homes for veterans and two Wiltshire Development Centres. Furthermore, we provide training courses and a care service for those living in their own accommodation. With a terrific team and a growing body of volunteers who help run our activities, we welcome your support and encouragement whether an individual, business or school.

We know that giving our young people a chance to try something new and get out of their comfort zone has a huge impact on their confidence, resilience and teamwork.

A snorkelling session at Kimmeridge Bay in Dorset has been really successful, with clients enjoying the experience, embracing nature, and learning about their own capabilities.

Our thanks go to Wiltshire and Swindon Community Foundation and the Nick Jenkins Foundation for their support of wellbeing activities for young people.

It’s been amazing to welcome local barber, Kia, into ALABARÉ Place, as he offered our clients and rough sleepers free haircuts at the drop-in service 💇💈

Taking care of personal appearance is an important step towards building confidence and self-esteem, supporting their journey into breaking the cycle of homelessness.

Kia has asked if he can return to give more fresh trims, and we’re grateful for the help!

Our young people’s services across Wiltshire and Hampshire aim to build confidence and boost life skills to support 16-to-25-year-olds into successful adult lives.

We’re breaking the cycle of homelessness and improving wellbeing for them, including care leavers and young parents with their babies.

ALABARÉ is ready to meet PM Andy Burnham’s commitment to ensuring nobody is left sleeping rough this Christmas. We know it's possible because we've done it before. Last winter, our teams provided more than shelter. We helped people find longer-term accommodation and move towards independent living. People like Terrance.

Homes, Hearts and Minds.

The work to refurbish our Home for Veterans in Pontypridd is continuing – and our clients from Cardiff are getting stuck in to help! 🪏💪

They’ve been helping to clear the garden space to create a calming area for all to use. Having access to outdoor facilities is really important to support physical and mental wellbeing, with clients helping with a maintenance routine and bringing a sense of purpose.

Our thanks go to the Office for Veterans' Affairs for funding the project as a whole, administered by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust.
