Sit down, get a cuppa (you'll need it) and catch up on what's happening...
After moving out of CTEC in November, we have been working behind the scenes on creating a new base and future community hub for Rain or Shine and the CamGlen community.
We hadn’t publicly announced the move yet because we were busy getting the space ready and securing funding to make it something really special for the community.
Sadly, things haven’t worked out as planned, and we’re honestly gutted 😢
Rutherglen Baptist Community church hall was going to become our new base and the home of that future community hub. Over the past few months, alongside our incredible volunteers, we spent countless hours clearing, fixing, and transforming the space. We invested our own time, money, and energy because we genuinely believed in what it could become for the community.
We entered into this in good faith based on what had been discussed and agreed at the outset. Unfortunately, circumstances outwith with our control have changed and we’re no longer able to continue using the space. This also means that funding we secured for the project can no longer be used as originally planned.
It’s incredibly disappointing, especially knowing how much hard work and commitment our volunteers gave to try and make it happen.
That said, we’re choosing to stay positive. Sometimes difficult situations help refocus what matters most.
One big decision we’ve made is that we won’t be running a shop again. While it helped fund our work, it also took up so much time that it pulled us away from the actual community support and projects we’re passionate about.
So moving forward, our focus will be firmly on community support, events, helping people, and creating positive opportunities wherever we can 🌈
For now, we’re on the move again — for the third time in a year! 🏠
(Destination currently unknown — suggestions welcome!) but we’ll keep everyone updated along the way.
We’ve also got more items available, so keep an eye on the page 👀
As always, thank you to every single volunteer, supporter, and person who believed in what we were trying to build. We genuinely couldn’t do any of this without you 💕
