We’re really proud to share the first THRIVE Impact Report for 2024–2025 🙌 and we're working on the next one!

THRIVE is a partnership in Redcar & Cleveland bringing together WithYou, Harbour Support Services and Intuitive Thinking Skills working alongside Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council and Recovery Connections.

Together, we support people facing challenges around domestic abuse, substance use, and behaviour change.

Here’s a snapshot of what we achieved that year:
• Reached 951 people (up from 872 the previous year)
• 83% of people we supported created a safety plan around their drug and alcohol use
• 78% said they felt safer after getting support

These numbers represent real people and real change, and show what’s possible when organisations work together to support local communities 💜

As temperatures continue to soar this week, it's important to take care of yourself and others around you.

💧 Water is your number one priority. Drink plenty of water and carry a water bottle everywhere. Alcohol dehydrates you fast, so try choose alcohol-free options, or alternate alcoholic drinks with a glass of water
🏖️ Keep out of the sun at the hottest time of the day, between 11am and 3pm
🪟 Keep curtains and blinds drawn, lights off if possible. This makes the room feel cooler
🧢 Use sunscreen and wear a hat if you’re going outside. Wear loose, lightweight, light-coloured clothing
💪 If you are going to do a physical activity, do it when it’s cooler

Remember to check in on your friends, family members and neighbours too. Don't leave anyone alone in the heat. A quick message or knock on the door could make all the difference.

❗If you take certain medications, hot weather can increase your risk of side effects and illness. If you're unsure, check the patient information leaflet or speak to your pharmacist, GP or NHS 111.

Matt Storey was recently invited to attend the opening of WithYou's new treatment and recovery centre in Grangetown.

Withyou provide free and confidential services, without judgement, to adults and young people facing challenges with drugs and alcohol.

During the visit, Matt met with representatives from the service, public health, the local authority, and people with lived experience to hear more about the support available across our communities.

He was also given a tour of the new facilities and learned more about With You’s ongoing work to help people access treatment and recovery services.

🌳 Huge thank you to JT Dove Building Materials for the donation of gravel for our new building courtyard area. It has completely transformed the area 🪨
