Prospect Park Railway - Reading Society of Model Engineers

Prospect Park Railway - Reading Society of Model Engineers The Reading Society of Model Engineers established 100 years ago. Trains will be on track for rides at the times shown in the Future Events box.

Based at Prospect Park, 'Public Running' days are on the first Sunday of every month. We have a Young Engineers club and we cover a limited number of birthday parties (pre-booked) The Reading Society of Model Engineers was established 100 years ago with the purpose of allowing individuals, who enjoy building and operating models of engines and machinery, to share their combined interest. Since then

the club has moved from strength to strength and has now been based at our present home in Prospect park for over 40 years. The society encompasses a large number of interests, being equally involved in the construction and operation of model railways as well as the construction of live steam locomotives, clocks, IC engines and all manner of other scale equipment

We have 'Public Running' days on the first Sunday of each month together with some Bank Holidays. (may be varied in adverse weather conditions). Birthday parties are really popular and get booked well in advance. See section on Birthday Parties for information, availability and reservation arrangements for that very special day

READY FOR SUNDAY 7th JUNE ? WE ARE

It seems to have been a while since our last public running day, but we've dodged the rain over recent days to get the bucket and sponge out to clean the carriages ready for Sunday !

Trains should be on the tracks by 12 noon running till around 3:45. Tickets available on the day, card or cash, from the blue gazebo in our free ar park. Entrance is on the A4. (Tickets still just £5 for ten rides)

As usual, light refreshments will be available in the clubhouse, and we hope you will come along to enjoy an hour or so on the trains with your children or anyone, in fact, who would like to join us.

WE'RE READY FOR SUNDAY 3rd MAY

Like many gardens, our site has suddenly seen incredible changes in the undergrowth and a lot of work has been done this week to clear the track for the trains !

We plan to have trains on the tracks for around 12 noon until 3:45 although this may change if the weather dictates.

Tickets again available from the blue gazebo in our free car park which is accessible from the Bath Road. Cost is 60p per ride or we do ten rides for £5.

Light refreshments will be available from the club house, so there's always a 'cuppa' going for you.

We look forward to seeing you, but whatever you do, have a good weekend.

TRAINS ON EASTER SUNDAY

Yes, we are keeping to our usual first Sunday of each month for running the trains, and that means we shall be there in just three days time with up to seven trains on the tracks by 12 noon until around 3:45pm.

Tickets will be available from the blue gazebo in our car park, costing 60p per ride or the ever popular 10 rides for £5.00. The car park is free and the entrance is on Bath Road about 100 mtrs from the Leibenrood Road traffic lights.

Light refreshments will be available in the club house.

Being Easter, it's likely that you will have members of your family visiting and hopefully you'll bring them along for the ride, as they say ! We look forward to seeing you, but whatever your plans, though, enjoy Easter and the school holidays.
