What an amazing evening!

I love it when we get to involve the parents in a session. And tonight we did just that!

I think the pictures speak louder than my words!

A slightly different Scouts night this week!

We took over the car park for the evening and got stuck into the Mechanic Activity Badge – Motor Car!

The Scouts got properly hands-on — checking tyres, looking at bulbs and fluids, learning their way around a car and, of course, getting a wheel off and back on again!

They also had a chance to sit in the driving school car and learn what the clutch actually does, with each of them having a go at finding the biting point - don’t worry the car didn’t move!

They were absolutely brilliant. Everyone got involved, had a go and hopefully came away knowing a little bit more about what to do when something goes wrong with a car.

Huge thank you to our leaders for supplying cars, tools, lights and knowledge — and to the Scouts for listening to the safety instructions and not dropping a wheel on anyone. Always a successful evening when we finish with the same number of Scouts we started with! 😂

Definitely one of our more practical Friday nights at 59th!

IN EGGBUCKLAND - NEW ADVENTURES START HERE!!

Our Squirrels and Beavers are completely full with long waiting lists (which is amazing!), but we currently have spaces available in our Cubs and Scouts sections at St Edwards church Hall, Eggbuckland!

🐺 Cubs — Wednesdays, 6:00–7:30pm
⚜️ Scouts — Fridays, 6:30–8:30pm

Adventure, new skills, confidence, friendships and plenty of fun along the way!

5 years of official Scouting (although it’s definitely been longer! 😉).

What an absolutely amazing day, made even more special by being presented with my 5-year award by my mum, surrounded by my family, my adopted sister, and the group that I wholeheartedly adore.

Today was everything that Scouting is about and a perfect reminder of why I do what I do. Seeing parents, families, young people and volunteers come together to relax, have fun, enjoy some food, play games (and maybe have a little water fight!) was just incredible.

I couldn’t do any of this without the amazing volunteers at 59th Plymouth Scout Group. Whether you’re working directly with our young people or supporting us behind the scenes, every single one of you plays such an important part, and I am truly grateful for everything you do.

Our group has changed so much over the last year, so to see today filled with kindness, laughter, compassion and true Scouting spirit was incredibly special. It reminded me just how far we’ve come and what an amazing community we’ve built together.

I’m so excited to see what the future holds for our group. We’re always growing, learning and overcoming whatever challenges come our way—and if today proved anything, it’s that we can achieve amazing things together.

A huge welcome to all of our new volunteers who have joined us recently, and to those who are yet to be invested into the group. We’re so pleased to have you as part of the 59th family, and we’re excited for the journey ahead together. Although not everyone could be with us today, we’re incredibly grateful to have you on board.

To every family who has supported us in the past, continues to support us now, and will support us in the future—thank you. We do this for you and, most importantly, for your young people, so they can grow into confident, kind and incredible human beings.

I know I say it a lot, but I genuinely wouldn’t dedicate so much of my time to this if I didn’t absolutely love it. Every smile, every laugh and every moment like today makes all the hard work behind the scenes worthwhile.

Have a fantastic summer, everyone. We can’t wait to welcome you all back in September!

What an amazing day!

A huge thank you to all of the volunteers who gave up their Sunday to make the Field Gun Run happen. I couldn’t be prouder of the team and everything they did behind the scenes to help the day run smoothly.

Most importantly, thank you to all the groups who came along, supported the event, and threw themselves into the fun

9th & 21st Plymouth
1st Stonehouse
1st Keyham
19th Plymouth
27th Plymouth
31st Plymouth

And to every Cub who took part – thank you! You all showed amazing Scout values throughout the day, working together, encouraging each other, showing determination, and most importantly having fun. It was fantastic to see so much teamwork and friendship on display.

Over the next few days we’ll be sending out a feedback form so we can find out what went well, what we could do better, and any changes you’d recommend for the future. The Cubs were very clear that we should do it all again next year… so I suppose I’d better start planning! 😅

Field Gun Run 2026 – TOMORROW!

Today we’ve been busy getting everything ready for tomorrow’s Cub Field Gun Run, and we can’t wait to welcome Cubs, Leaders and Families from across Plymouth for what promises to be an amazing day! ☀️

We’ve even arranged for the sunshine!

There’ll be:
🏕️ Fundraising activities run by local Scout Groups
🍔 Food and refreshments available throughout the day
🎟️ A fantastic raffle with some great prizes
💳 Cash and card payments accepted

Whether you’re taking part, supporting a team, or just coming along to enjoy the atmosphere, we’d love to see you there.

Good luck to all the Cubs taking part – we’ll see you at Blindmans Wood tomorrow!
