This week we were thrilled to welcome Vic, Alice and the Steps Ahead team to the Primrose Breast Care Centre for a cheque presentation for their wonderful fundraising from running the Plymouth 10k. In Alice's words:

"My wife Vic was diagnosed with breast cancer on Christmas Eve in 2024 and spent most of 2025 under the exceptional care of the Primrose team. At the same time, I was pregnant and we welcomed our son into the world whilst Vic was in the height of her chemo treatment. The team at Primrose cared for us both throughout, and the kindness shown to us both has been remarkable. We experienced the worst moments of our lives in the Primrose clinic. But the smile on reception, the hand squeezes from the HCAs, the reassuring professionalism of the nurses and the precision and expertise of the surgeons creates a calmness. Sunshine in the darkest of days. Vic’s work family at Steps Ahead Care and Support were with us every step of the way too. As one big team, we ran 10k in May for The Primrose Foundation, raising £2690 in total. Thank you to everyone who donated, and thank you eternally to The Primrose Foundation. What we raise will never be enough."

The Primrose Foundation are very pleased to have funded a new projector and pull down screen to aid the delivery and presentation of cases at the Oncoplastic MDT through high quality imaging. The projector will also be used for other meetings as well as continued medical education. It also accommodates remote access for video conferencing to allow staff greater opportunities to share expertise and collaborate.

Pictured here is Ming Goh, Senior Clinical Fellow with the projector who has been very pleased to report back that the equipment is fantastic and working well.

A massive well done and huge thank you to Ben who completed the London Marathon on Sunday raising a fantastic £1,757 for The Primrose Foundation! 🏃 🥇

Ben says 'It was an honour to be able to run for such a great charity that has helped not only my mum and sister but many friends in the area too'.

The Primrose Foundation are pleased to be able to offer a limited number of funded places on the Gentle Recovery Programme.

'Gentle Recovery is a holistic, expert-led online programme designed to support breast cancer recovery for women who have had breast cancer surgery and are either still having treatment or have finished active treatment.

It offers 12 months of access to low-impact yoga, oncology exercise, lymph drainage sessions, and guided relaxation to help reduce stress and anxiety. With tutorials on healthy posture, core strengthening, and modifications for various surgeries, plus a supportive community hub, this program empowers women to regain strength, mobility, and emotional well-being. Additional resources on nutrition, sleep, and emotional health are also included, all at your own pace and from the comfort of home.'

NB - The Primrose Foundation are able to offer funded places to patients currently accessing University Hospitals Plymouth Breast Services. Numbers are limited. 'The Gentle Recovery Programme is an incredible tool to support with recovery after breast cancer. It takes a holistic approach supporting both body and mind, through yoga, walking and relaxation techniques. There are also great videos to support with specific issues.
When I accidently hit my hand against a wall and felt it getting tight, I was able to use the lymphatic drainage exercises to help alleviate any fluid build up and saved a trip to the clinic. Rather than being scared of injury, I feel I have the tools to be able to support me, which has given me the confidence to use my arm normally.

The Dare 2 Ladies have done it again! We were absolutely thrilled to welcome them to The Primrose Breast Care Centre to celebrate the success of their ball last October. It was so nice to thank them in person for their wonderful donation and also to acknowledge their ongoing work and support of the charity - we are so grateful. Thank you from all of us 💛
