📣 We're pleased to share this new opportunity from Plymouth Culture for Disabled and/or D/deaf creatives in Plymouth.

Following consultation with local creatives, Plymouth Culture is launching the first in a series of dedicated meet ups, creating a welcoming space to connect, share experiences, offer peer support, and explore potential collaborations.

This first session will take place online and is a great opportunity to meet other creatives, talk about your practice, and help shape what future meet ups could look like.

If you're a Disabled and/or D/deaf creative working in Plymouth, we'd encourage you to get involved.

Our Nature & Neighbourhoods team recently worked with Bristol Libraries to help children, young people and families play a central role in shaping a new five-year strategy for the service. Through creative engagement and meaningful conversations, local voices were at the heart of planning for the future.

This project is a great example of how creativity can help organisations connect with communities, gather valuable insights, and design services that reflect the needs and aspirations of the people they serve.

As part of our Creative Residency programme at Real Ideas, we recently welcomed artist and arts consultant Hannah Rose for an inspiring and practical workshop exploring how to build and sustain a long-term creative career. 🔍

Drawing on more than two decades of experience across the visual arts sector, Hannah shared her personal career journey, offering honest insights into balancing creative practice alongside leadership, consultancy and sector development roles.

Participants also gained a behind-the-scenes look at LOW PROFILE, the acclaimed artist duo Hannah co-founded, and learned how they approach ambitious projects with creativity, resilience and resourcefulness.

The session then moved into a hands-on workshop, where residents explored techniques for generating new ideas, setting creative priorities and overcoming common barriers to sharing their work with the world.

A huge thank you to Hannah for sharing her experience, knowledge and generosity with our residency cohort. We hope participants left feeling inspired, connected and equipped with new tools to support their creative practice. 🌟

We're recruiting a Pathways Coordinator to support young people across Cornwall, empowering them to grow in confidence, develop new skills, and move forward into education, employment, volunteering, and personal development opportunities.

This rewarding role includes delivering coaching, facilitated sessions, and tailored support, particularly for young people with EHCP plans.

✅ Salary: £27,000 - £32,000
✅ Based in Liskeard with travel across Cornwall and occasional Plymouth work
✅ Flexible working opportunities
✅ 2x vacancies available for this role
✅ Contract until July 2027 with possibility of extension

🏛️ What could the future of Devonport Square look like?

We're proud to have partnered with the on a live design brief exploring the future of Devonport Square and Devonport Column as part of the developing Devonport Creative Quarter.

Architecture students developed creative proposals that reimagined the space through community-focused design, green infrastructure, cultural activity and improved connections between Devonport's key heritage assets.

A selection of the work will be on display at the Market Hall this summer, inviting visitors to explore the ideas and join the conversation about the future of Devonport Square and the wider Creative Quarter.

A huge thank you to all the students and staff involved for their creativity, enthusiasm and fresh thinking.
