A massive Bravo Zulu to two of our team who were recognized with HM Lord Lieutenants award for Meritorious Service. These awards are one step below a national honour and are awarded to members of the reserve or cadet forces by HM Lord Lieutenant of Devon; the Lord Lieutenant is the sovereign’s representative in Devon.

From TS Golden Hind, Captain Arthur Ainslie RN Rtd was recognized for his outstanding leadership and commitment as our chair of the trustees. Under Captain Ainslie’s leadership the unit has thrived!

Secondly Sgt (SCC) Taylor was awarded the certificate of meritorious service for his outstanding leadership, development and growth of the Royal Marines Cadets as Det Cdr and his many other unit roles.

Both are outstanding members of TS Golden Hind and we all congratulate them on this well earned award.

Volunteers who have dedicated years, and in some cases decades, to Devon's cadet movement have been recognised at the Lord Lieutenant's Awards, as National Cadets Week highlights the skills, confidence and experiences young people gain through cadet life.

The ceremony, held during the first ever National Cadets Week, recognised adult volunteers from across Devon whose time, knowledge and commitment help young people develop the skills they can carry into education, employment and everyday life.

With Friday marking Skills for Life Day, the stories of those recognised demonstrate the important role volunteers play in creating the opportunities through which cadets learn to lead, communicate, solve problems, work as a team and develop the confidence to take on new challenges.
